I just bought a 2011 Tacoma and I am trying to add upgrades. My first question is what nerf bars should I buy. I was torn between straight or the ones with the curved ends. Are the ones with the curved ends less stable. The straight ones seem to be able to withstand mor weight or seem to last longer. I will be back with more questions later.

I've got a set of Hunter Stainless Steel bars and they've held up well. As far as stability, curved or straight won't make a difference, it's how they're mounted and the thickness of the material used to make the bar. Curving the end of the bar won't make it less stable.

Find some used predator bars...they are matte black, whereas I THINK N-fabs are gloss black. Look better IMO.

Check out the raptor series . The chrome ones are the only ones that have a matching end cap. Most strait ones have a crappy little black piece of plastic cap . Check out my pictures of them . Also if I remember correct I found them for $268 and I have no complaints

If the coating NFab uses on their nerf bars is the same as their light bars it's very very thin and cheap IMO. I ended up scuffing up the light bar brand new and coating it with bed liner, otherwise it wouldn't last a single winter in the salt up here.

The coating on my N-Fab bars looks fine after a year here in Oregon, must be the salt on the roads. They don't use it here.

I never even let them touch salt before I bed linered them. The gloss coating scuffed very very easily and seemed incredibly thin. I beefed it up before I installed the bar. The salt here does make anything steel look like crap pretty quickly. Rocks and sand ding up the paint, then the salt gets in and starts the rust.

i went with the GoRhino Dominator II and i love them. I am now looking to get a black grill or paint my grill black. Or possible trade even up with someone who has a black grill and wants a chrome one.
