Another thing I should mention too is the loss of low end power when you bump up to a 33" tire. I'm running stock gearing right now and it sucks. You have to drive like a maniac to get the sluggish feeling to subside. That's a spendy upgrade. He's my old rig for ya with stock everything other than the wheels and tires

Do you think I would be able to fit a 285/75 with a 4" lift and 4.5" backspacing on wheels?

It seems everyone has different experiences with similar set ups. I can say for me personally, when I did BP-51 kit with LR UCA's, F5's that were 8" wide w/ 4.50"bs and +0 offset on 286/75/16 trail grapplers, it fit without rubbing. But if you plan on running that size of tire, you're going to want to re gear or you'll hate driving your truck. My feels so gutless. I'm working on getting it re gear when I get a break from the chaos at work. Im new to tacomas, and there are people way more qualified than me to speak on the subject. I did a ton of research and trial and error to get my truck where I like it

What was the width of that 33" tire? Mine would only be a 255/85 if I went 33's. It'd barely be a 33 and it'd also be a pizza cutter because of the 255 part which would make the tire 10" wide. This would help with weight.

Yeah that's what I thought, it is wider than a 255/85 so they're gonna be heavier. Maybe you lost some low end because of the tread pattern? Where you running street tires before?

I lifted this one before I ever drove it stock. But being a wider taller tire is definitely the reason. If you like the pizza cutter look, try that set up and see how you like it. If you have to re gear, so what. It's only money

@Foggy Noggin Do you know what size wheel is on the 2016 4x4 trd-offroad?

By increasing the offset of the wheel through spacers, you place more stress on the axle’s studs, and in a front axle application on the unit bearings (or spindles) and ball joints of the axle. You also increase the tire scrub radius, changing the way the vehicle handles and increasing the difficulty of slow-speed turning.

Rims with proper backspacing eliminate most of these. Like i said. "They can screw shit up" but are a very common mod and do i know anyone who has had issue... no. But have i heard the story's... yes and a few threads on here from other gens.

Both are just pushing the tires out. The torque on everything is the same if you push everything out to the same offset; spacers or wheels. So "proper" back spaced wheels will put similar strain on the hub assembly as a spacer and wheels with stock offset.

six one way half a dozen the other

Another thing to consider is if a spacer gets too loose or breaks then it can cause a wheel to fall off

The only negative I know of that is specific to spacers is the lug nuts can looses up and its a pain to tighten them.

I've been running spacers on my '85 for years.

For way under $6,000 (roughly what your newest set up #3 is) I got kings, OME leaf springs, 255/85r16 KM2, and scs wheels. Including my spare.

Yeah, it's the UCA, the 285/75 tires, rock sliders, and gears/bearing that are making the price so high. I need to be able to do this without cutting/trimming anything because I can't void the warranty on the truck. Makes things a little more difficult and pricey.

@chrisrocks300 so don't do it all at once. According to king you don't need UCA unless you get ext travel, get the 255's like you said you wanted in the other setups, and I didnt have to cut/trim or re gear. But I have a manual transmission. I had the OME setup before and hated it. So from personal experience just bite the bullet and buy the good shit the first time. Plus in my opinion zone spacer lifts are trash. If you want pictures just let me know what you wanna see.
