@chrisrocks300 dont take my word for anything. I'd get what you can afford and what you like/deem fit for your needs. All I'm saying is my setup was a lot less. But I didn't get gears or rock sliders. And I installed it on my own (super easy). Their are tons of threads on here about suspension and tons of opinions. If I can answer any questions about my past set up (OME) or my current setup just let me know.

Yeah, I could probably run setup 2 without the UCA's and save some money. It would work for what I need it to as well and I don't think I'd need trimming or a regear for a 255/85

@chrisrocks300 exactly what I'm saying. OME doesn't require UCA. And if you feel you need to regear then that's something you can do later on after it's lifted. And my 255/85r16 km2 look small.... so don't think you'd have to worry about that.

:facepalm:this is so jacked up...the cheap kits ride worse than stock on road (in my experience). I don't understand how people are willing to give up ride quality for looks and minimal offroad improvement. Especially when you can buy really really nice kits that do ride significantly better than stock for ~$1,000 more? Wtf is $1k when your $35k deep in a truck and $5k deep in mods already... FFS lol

    word

If that's what you're really worried about, which I find questionable given that you have a mod list approaching $6k before having actually bought anything.. just keep all your stock stuff and pull it off when you go to sell. Then sell all the aftermarket stuff. You get top dollar for the Tacoma AND kick backs for all the mods.

You have a point, any kit recommendations?

King, Fox or Icon. In that order. 2.5" front and rear. Resi's if you want em. Adjusters if you want em.

For your particular build I'd swap the 4.56 gears for a nicer suspension. Imo 3.90s are fine for 285s. That's not really a big tire. People run 35s with 3.73s on Jeeps all the time. 37x13.5s on 4.10s... I'm not saying 4.56s wouldn't be nice. They would, I just don't think the gain from swapping 3.90s to 4.56s is nearly the gain you get between a cheap suspension and a top tier suspension.

@Doggman exactly what I was trying to tell him.... I just can't speak from experience about the gearing because mine is the manual with taller gears

I cant remember if icons require "yearly" servicing or not, im sure most people dont do anyway. But just keep in mind.

For the type of off-roading I plan to be doing, gathering from the input of everyone on the forum that has said something so far I'm thinking one of these two might be a smoother more practical ride. And maybe just make the rock sliders a thing that can happen later to help with price, taking those off and switching to a tuff country UCA saves a good bit of money. I shouldn't need to put any new wheels with backspacing on for the icon lift should I?

Just don't pinch pennies dude... I know people buy what they can afford. Regardless of what your needs are from the truck, you'll never be dissapointed getting quality components. That being said, keep us updated with what you decide to do. I'm excited to see how it turns out

Yeah, I will. This is all gonna be happening sometime in May most likely. Doing all the research I can to find out exactly what I should get so I don't scramble around right before I get it and spend money on something that ended up being a piece of crap because I bought the wrong thing.

Stage 2 icon is solid. Id take the coopers over the maxxis. I'd maybe go 285s and spacers if keeping stock wheels but that'd only be for aesthetics. Also I'd probably opt for the icon UCA for the extra coinage. Or total chaos. Just me tho
