Looking at the trail gear sliders. (Using for stepups and to prevent parking lot door dings) not rock crawling lol.
I'm assuming these just get welded to the frame with the pre cut tube pieces?? Should I get "L" brackets to weld to the frame for strength? tgi-120003-1-kit.jpg
Or would this kit below be better? Says bolt on but TG recommends welding them on.
There's about a $70 difference between the two kits. Of course the bolt on is higher in price.

If you aren't going to use them for off-roading then bolt on will be fine, though they are usually more expensive.

I bought the bolt on TG sliders and had them welded on. Didn't need 32 holes drilled into the frame. They're very sturdy and have the plates and gussets already there. Makes welding much easier. With the weld on ones they might be cheaper but you have to buy the gussets separately. So it adds up.

Looks awesome! Thx for the input. Did the bolt on ones come fully welded? Meaning all you did was weld the "L" bracket ends to the frame? Or are the legs detached so you can pick the angle you want the sliders? Confusing cause the pic has everything welded.

Cause they're ugly lol. I really like the look of sliders. Being that they are nice and close to the truck.

I was trying to find some pictures of the L brackets welded to the frame. I can get some pictures in the morning. But yeah, I had them welded onto the frame just the way they look in your original post. They come fully welded. I just picked them up from 4wheelparts in Sacramento and headed over to Califabrication in Carmichael to have them primed, painted and welded on. I'm glad the sliders are rattle canned since I'm constantly touching them up. I had my front TG low pro bumper Line X'd. And it's held up great too. I primed & rattle canned my rear TG bumper also.

For the sliders that are bolt on, I had to notch the body pinch weld all the way down to clear the angle of the sliders

Thats where I was looking. 4wheelparts has them for $288 and local pickup! but if they come pre welded I wont be able to adjust the angle.

Gonna go with summit racing.com. I can get the weld on set and brackets seperate for $245 shipped! Yea theres more welding involved but I dont mind and I can adjust the angle to my liking.

Here are mine, I bought the diy ones and had them welded on. Painted with self etching primer then rattlecan trickbed liner and love em. Could have been tucked in a little more but still happy with them.

Sorry they are a little dirty...

Got anymore pics of the truck?! I live in Tucson too! Were the L brackets welded all the way around or just a little on each side?

Weld on TGs with my own design aluminum diamond plate 'splash guard' which helps keep the doors clean(er) of road spray and my gravel road mud.

Get the unwelded if you want to tuck them in closer, you will have to trim the feet though so if you don't have a saw that may change your mind. I've run the trailgear ones without the supports and been fine rockcrawling. Not necessary if you're just using them as steps/protection.

Got access to a chop saw so shortening them wont be an issue. So you just welded the tubes straight to the frame with no gussets L brackets? Have any pics of hiw yours turned out?

Mine were the TG un-welded kit too - I did all the necessary welding and liked that I could choose how they stuck out and what angle they sat.
This takes some time but I am happy with the finished product. I lifted up the side of the truck with a hi-lift too. (can't find the pics though)
BTW - I have installed these TG sliders on my truck, my brother's '08 DBL Cab and my cousin's '00 extended cab - all with good results!
