I posted a thread yesterday asking for your suggestion on tires, and after shopping around I've come up with 3 options. Which do you recommend?

Michelin LTX M/S $990 (Including spare)

Wild Country XTS Sport $920 (Excluding spare)

Toyo Open Country AT ll $1000 (Excluding spare)

I need something good in the winter (Will be living in ID) And I won't be doing any off road driving.

I need to make up my mind within the next few days, so your input is appreciated. Thanks!

    What are your tire needs?

    Pavement only?
    Dry, rain, snow?
    Mixed pavement off road?

Sorry, I'll add that to the previous post. It's a daily driver, so pavement only.
Need something good in the snow because I'll be moving to Idaho.

Michelin LTX M/S 2 is what I just got, I love them. Put Firestone Destination L/E2 on the wife's 4wd 4Runner and they are quiet and ride really well, but not as good as the Michelin's.

I have had Michelin's on the Tahoe prior to getting the Tacoma, first set went 88,000 miles, second set was at 69,000 when we sold it and looked new, drove it all over sheet ice in west Texas with very little issue.

Michelin LTX M/S is what I use on all my trucks and I just love em.

quiet, long life, great mileage, smooth quiet ride, and great wet or dry traction

I ended up putting them on every truck I ever owned because other tires just don't work as good or last as long.

im just sad that when the tires on my truck wear out, I dont have the option to put them on this one since they don't make them in a 14" size :annoyed: guess im gonna put uniroyals on it since I have no other option, they are a very close second to Michelins IMHO

Michelin MS/2's. If you're looking for pavement performance they are ss good as it gets. They last almost forever and you don't have to slow down when it gets wet. I've got them on my old '73 Caddy and the Taco. Not a serious off road tire but they do OK at that too. Just don't think you're gonna go "mud boggin". Surface mud no problem. Deep mud, no way and I have a 4X4 but no locker or LSD. They work pretty good on the ice and in the snow but as usual, you still have to slow down and use common sense.

I've used them in WY and UT through two winters and have no complaints. Idaho will be the same.

I have the Michelin MS/2's on mine right now. Great handling on-road in rain/snow/dry and very quiet. They do okay in the rocks with only greasy mud slowing me down.

I have the MS2's on now for 80K, love them. Won't find a better tire for on road and wet roads. I highly recommend them.

Thanks all! I got the Michelin LTX MS's installed today! It was dry pavement, but I do notice a difference!! After all, I was driving on 16 yr old tires  (I just bought it last month)

Also, do you get your tires installed with the White or Black lettering out? (I chose white

Personal preference on the lettering. I think there have been 700 threads in the past asking.
    I bet they look fantastic.

Good choice! You'll definitely be fine if you do only pavement driving, or even if you choose maintained dirt/ forest roads. I don't know what part of ID you plan to be in, but if it's any part of the Treasure Valley (Boise, Meridian, Nampa) you'll be perfectly fine. Here in the Boise area the snow doesn't hit hard enough or stick long enough to need studded tires or aggressive tires. I've ran everything from unstudded street tires on my camry to goodyear duratracs on my Tacoma and never had any issues.

Can't be any more noisy than the BFG AT/K2. There are few if any customer reviews yet, just Toyo propaganda. And the tire is well received by the chosen testers over other A/T manufacturers.
I have run BFG my entire life and am just got tired of their playing catch up with the market.

    Real^ :)

I like the looks of those new toyos. I would probably sipe the center tread section though for better wet/snow traction.

    Too slow.
Besides, for the needs she was describing I think the Duratracs would have been overkill. I love mine, but if I didn't need to get 'upta camp' during the winter on unplowed logging roads I'd probably have gone with something tamer for the extra MPG's on a DD.

Thanks Dan, Funny you mentioned this. For some reason I was under the impression when purchased they were factory siped due to a picture on a review.
    Good eye and will do.
