as for the too expensive or hard to get, i'm happy to get anyone an Amsoil EAO #34 or Wix 51516 for close to dealer cost plus shipping

figure $15 for the Amsoil EAO 34 and $7 for the Wix 51516

a five pack of EAO 34's is $75 plus shipping, that's five years worth of oil filters

a five pack of Wix 51516 is $35 plus shipping

if you're running the Amsoil 0w30 SSO, i would have no problem running that EAO 34 for one year or 25k, and 10k to 15k, or one year, on the Wix, depending on your driving conditions and habits

    feel free to PM

I did it again. Got tired of paying truck payments and gas and traded in for a 2015 Honda Accord Sport since I enjoyed my 2013 Sport so much.
Purolator PureOne filters and Mobil 1 Synthetic. Peace of mind.

From Amazon they come in packs of two for ~$10. Just bought two packs of two for just under $19, shipped. Not too shabby.

I used to use Bosch with my old car, but with the Taco it's been MOBIL 1 every oil change.

Fram basic is not good...all cardboard construction. It really isn't built well to last past 3k...

The two levels above the regular one (extended guard, another name I forget off hand) are good filters that compare well to the competition...

I'd imagine the engine might very well last all 60K of the warranty with NO filter on...

There are tests that have taken filters apart and analyzed how much they actually filter and at what efficiency, etc...

Maybe someone can find a link, but on this one website, this guy analyzed like 20 or so filters...

    A bunch of stuff
If you can, just go straight to the source. Chevron makes the oil for Toyota in North America (at least they do in Canada) So same oil as the dealer but withought the mark-up (10w30 in the warm weather and 5w30 in the cold winter months)

As far as the filter. There are only a few companies that make filters, all the hundreds of filter companies out there are using these few with different labeling on the casing. Donaldson and Fleetguard are the 2 main ones. I use a Fleetguard filter #LF3339 slightly larger then the factory Toyota filter.

Fleetguard is owned by Cummins, good product. I've used their filters on hundreds of different types of equipment from diesel to gas engines, extremley good, never had a failure. If it's not identical its probably better then the Toyota filter.....and cheeper.

If you do the services yourself and don't buy factory filter and oil keep all your reciepts as proof that you did the service work in event of a failure

I think he's referring to the Magnuson-Moss Act.

    15 USC 2302
    (c) Prohibition on conditions for written or implied warranty; waiver by Commission
No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumer's using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name; except that the prohibition of this subsection may be waived by the Commission if-
    (1) the warrantor satisfies the Commission that the warranted product will function properly only if the article or service so identified is used in connection with the warranted product, and
    (2) the Commission finds that such a waiver is in the public interest.
The Commission shall identify in the Federal Register, and permit public comment on, all applications for waiver of the prohibition of this subsection, and shall publish in the Federal Register its disposition of any such application, including the reasons therefor.
