I think standard copper are rated for around 30,000 to 40,000 thats what the parts guy told me... google says 10,000 - 20,000

These use a waste spark system and so a double grounded plug is used to gain back some life. Single ground plugs will just wear faster but like you said can still be used

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
 The plugs fire on the exhaust stroke as well as the combustion stroke.

Yeah makes sense to get double with copper ones as they don't last very long. Also one reason I went with platinum they have about 5x the life of copper plugs. ;)

Some say 60,000 some say 30,000... Miles is kinda a crappy way to measure life of parts because you could idle for long periods or run your engine too hot. Any number of life reducing things could take place. But I think 30-60k is what people genrally recommend.

Just curios How many miles do you drive in a year? I like the concept, might be over kill but that never hurts right lol.

I have no real Idea one vehicle is less then 5000 miles the other might be 20 to 25 thousand

I would rather spend $500.00 in spark plugs then need to build another engine

I haven't seen a spark plug cause such catastrophic engine failure but if $20 in spark plugs gives you peace of mine then why not?

Not only do the 5vz plugs fire twice as much as a conventional system, one side fires from center to ground and the other side fires ground to center.

My factory plugs were eroded out to .055"-.060" at 30K as well as all subsequent changes at 30K intervals up to the present 250k.

Yikes! The electrode broke off? Well then comment rescinded, although wouldn't that be possible with a new plug too?

No it was just the fact the head needed to be removed to repair the damaged hole .

I thought I am this far may as well do the bottom end as well and the timing belt

    Sure, it's possible.

These are the factory plugs out of my 5vz at 30K.
Note the rounded/eroded center electrode on the Densos (left) vs the NGKs due to the opposite firing polarity.

No the plug broke just at the top of the threads

I think the original plugs were in yet at 125,000 when I bought the truck

Ive pulled 5 denso and 1 NGK out of one truck and 3 denso and 3 ngk out of another. Use whatever you can find. I put 5 denso and 1 ngk in my girlfriends 4runner since napa only had 5 of the densos in stock. Work fine. Both brands and VERY VERY good
