I have a '24 Tacoma SR5 that did not come with any kind of side steps (I added black tube steps to my old '09 2nd Gen.). For my '24 I am liking the look of the Predator side steps. Through July, my dealer is offering 50% off installed parts and accessories (which would include the steps). Doing the math, including installation (1 hr. @ $189) and tax (6% in MD) the total cost would be $639.50. This would be Toyota OEM of course. Alternatively, I could go third party, install myself (should be easy-peezy) and save some money but how good is the quality and looks? Any thoughts or recommendations? I see TopGear AutoSport sells similar steps for $349 plus tax ($20.94) and shipping ($53.40) of course. https://www.topgearautosport.com/197607/toyota-tacoma-double-cab-2024-2025-drop-step-nerf-bars

I'd like to hear some input from people who have the predator steps as well. Particularly how they're located and if they're awkward to use.

I'm fine without them, but my wife is a little vertically challenged.

Same here. I know they are easy to install - just several bolts. Also, it would be nice to step up to reach the roof when washing the truck instead of dragging out a step ladder.

I think predator steps are a joke...
Waste of money, worthless, & not visually appealing what so ever...
If you want something oem, the toyota tubes look decent....

Lots of 20 degree rock slider options, will give you protection & a step....

Those 20 degree sliders are a pain to use as a step imo

I believe you, my previous truck had angled sliders and I didn’t care for them

Some are low profile & are tucked tight to the door, I could see how theyre hard to use as a step....
Mine are tabbed by NW2 Offroad, local San Diego toyota offroad enthusiasts & they have a great product...
    They have an IG page...

I had Predators on my 21 and now on my 25. Love them. Easier than carrying a stool for my wife to get in and out of the truck.

I have a set of takeoffs off my TRD OF. Brand new + hardware.
    Make me an offer.

I’m not a big fan but my dealer stuck them on my last 2 trucks. To me the step is awkwardly placed. I’m not a tall guy but I step right over it and bypass it altogether. The shorter guests who use them often comment on the step being in a weird spot.

I don’t drive on anything rocky enough to need steel sliders but a flat step running the length of the cab seems way better than predators.

I've always had the oem predator steps on all of my third gens and now on my 4th gen. Very light and easy to install. The install on the 4th gen is actually much easier because a clip that holds the steps as you are aligning and installing the steps. The steps also provide some protection from door dings. Overall the quality is great and they look good.

Would you be willing to ship it to Oregon? And for what price would you do it?

This. I had Predators on my third gen and felt the same about placement. I have Go Rhino RB20 slims on my 4th gen and love them. There are many good running board options out there for the 4th gen. There’s a thread on this forum as well with lots of good pics.

I just couldn't ditch the OEM frame sliders but I did buy some bolt-on steps, which are easy enough to remove with a ratchet to regain the clearance.

If I had to start "tabula rasa", I would buy a frame-mounted running board with a slight kick out at the rear, for all the reasons.

Not to discourage you, since there is a deal on the table, and this would be appreciably less than you would pay for decent running boards.

    NW2 Offroad on IG....
They used my truck to do the 3d scan to re-configure the previous gen layout to work on the 4th gen, along with adding some upgrades.
Completely 100% stoked to have these on the truck....
Yes, they may be a little heavy but theres heavier ones out there....
    This isnt a Prius....
