I have a '24 Tacoma SR5 that did not come with any kind of side steps (I added black tube steps to my old '09 2nd Gen.). For my '24 I am liking the look of the Predator side steps. Through July, my dealer is offering 50% off installed parts and accessories (which would include the steps). Doing the math, including installation (1 hr. @ $189) and tax (6% in MD) the total cost would be $639.50. This would be Toyota OEM of course. Alternatively, I could go third party, install myself (should be easy-peezy) and save some money but how good is the quality and looks? Any thoughts or recommendations? I see TopGear AutoSport sells similar steps for $349 plus tax ($20.94) and shipping ($53.40) of course. https://www.topgearautosport.com/197607/toyota-tacoma-double-cab-2024-2025-drop-step-nerf-bars

Wrong sub, however if you're actually looking for steps and not sliders, the Predators are nice because they're aluminum and won't rust.

I wouldn't pay $600+ dollars for them though, id buy used ones as they're frequently removed and available on FB marketplace for half that price or less.

Your link looks like those are aluminum, but waterproof is a weird way to say that. Dunno about the quality of those. I believe NFAB makes the Toyota steps.

FWIW, I went with the oem tube steps, but the install took less than 15 minutes (6 bolts on each side). Guessing the predator steps would be similar and you’d regret paying anyone anything to do it for you. It’s super easy and you could use the $$ saved for your next mod instead of labor at dealership.

quick edit: when Toyota runs parts sales the shipping is free and decent price. You could still get oem parts and do the installation yourself.

Yep. I know that the install is easy (a few bolts). However, to get the 50% off, you have to get the dealer to install. It all comes down to the bottom line price. I can save money by going third party but is it as good as the OEM? Yes, I read your quick edit. I will look at that bottom line price and compare. Thanks!

FWIW, I hated the predator steps, getting in was easy, getting out not so. This complaint was cross-generational from my 27 year old nephew on his Tundra (several of his friends said the same) to my wife and daughter. I went with DV8 OE Plus Side Steps. 4 mounting points, 30 min install but I had to take off the predator steps first so probably 20 min install for you. They are awesome IMHO.

Check out my post for pics of them installed on my SR5 and link to vendor:

Thanks for your feedback. That's a good look on your truck.
