Which seats?

I have a 2009 base model Tacoma with bench seat that I'm trying to swap out with bucket seats. Will any year model second generation buckets fit, even with minor fitting? Will any other Toyota models have seats that will fit (4runner, etc.)? Thanks for the help.

I have a 2010 RC base and I wanted to do the bucket swap, but I decided not to; They will fit…

However, 2009-newer models have side impact airbags integrated into the seats. I found a set of Tacoma buckets with the side airbags for only $350 (this was at least 3 years ago), but after talking with another post-2008 RC owner who did the swap, I decided not to. He could not for the life of him make the airbag wire from the buckets seats connect to his truck’s factory airbag wiring harness; What this resulted in was no side airbags and an airbag warning light that was perpetually on. He was willing to live with this, but I was not, so I sidelined the project…

I live in Pennsylvania, which requires a yearly safety inspection for all vehicles not registered as antiques; I was surprised to learn that an airbag light being on and even not having functioning airbags would NOT cause my truck to fail safety inspection, but I didn’t want to give up my side airbags or have that stupid wanting light on.

The other owner I talked to who actually did the swap lived in Oregon, which I do not believe has a safety inspection; I don’t know state you live in, but if it does have a safety inspection I’d definitely check the regulations regarding airbags. If you can get away with having that light on and you are willing to deal with it, then by all means go for it. It is also entirely possible that someone on here has successfully spliced a bucket seat airbag wiring harness to a base model airbag system…
