Went to America's tire to purchase some pizza cutters for my Tacoma, the sales rep said he can only sale them to me and not install for a safety reason since they weren't "standard size" for my truck.

Anyone know what stores will install them for me, maybe they have some type of waiver for me to sign to complete the install. I know I can take them to a mom & pop shop, but I want to have the TPMS sensors installed and linked to my car.

    Appreciate any suggestions.

Which location? Walnut Creek and Concord have both mounted and balanced non-standard size tires on OEM wheels for me (255/80R17 Coopers on 17x7.5 Tacoma Sport wheels and 35x10.5R17 on 17x7 4Runner SEMAs). I've gotten the 35s rebalanced during rotations several times at Concord, including this past weekend.

The only issue I can think of is that maybe the wheels are too wide for the tires, per the tire manufacturers specs?

edit: Any good mom and pop tire store should be able to do a TPMS install, by the way.

It was the one in Redwood City. He must've been new, he mentioned the 17's on my Tacoma weren't standard and not safe lol I said thank you and walked away. I'm going to call Walnut Creek today. Thank you.

I think it really depends on the shop and even the day and what mood they’re in.

I went to Discount Tire recently and they would not order latitude HP tires for my Macan because it wasn’t one of the approved tires for that car, only Pirellis and Conti.

But that doesn’t track because online and even from the manufacturer Michelins are on the approved list.

I went back the next day and they got me the tires I wanted no issues.

I have found that individuals who give that "safety/liability" excuse just don't feel like working that day. (With exceptions, as I am sure that there are equal amounts of customers that insist a set of 40" super swampers will fit on their stock Yaris.) Ive never seen a store where OEM-size-only is corporate policy, because it isn't. I got my pizza cutters installed at Discount.

Costco told me they could not install the tires I selected due to size being more than 3% larger

I took them wheels with no vehicle. Once I put them on they've mounted more of same size. They don't look at the book, just what's on the vehicle

Are the wheels OEM? If so, I'd just call them up, ask to speak to the manager, explain what happened, and have him set up the install appointment. Save yourself 90 minutes of drive time.

Just take the rims in. They can't claim vehicle non-compliance then. (but this means you have to have another tuck to carry time & rims back home.)
