I did it again. Got tired of paying truck payments and gas and traded in for a 2015 Honda Accord Sport since I enjoyed my 2013 Sport so much.
    P228, or just a plain P226R/P229R.

SiG has really gone downhill in the past few years. They're all about marketing now and not so great weapons.

If you can pick up an earlier SiG made in W.Germany it would be ideal.

For me Sig 226 is the best.

I bought a sig 226 40cal. a few months ago. It was the factory reconditioned in the red box w/2 12rd mags. I was kind of leary buying a sig in the first place because I love my glock 17 and was looking for a glock 23( I wanted a 40). But a friend of mine swears by his sigs and I decided to give them a look. The dealer had some new sigs that were out of my price range but he also had the used 226, so i picked it up and i couldn't have made a better buy. I have put about 200rds through it amd it is the most accurate pistol i have ever shot. i have made it my primary conceled carry gun.

I believe the 226 and 229 are the 2 best handguns.

I bought the 226 used w/slight holster wear for about $620, co-worker got the 229 in 40cal new and dropped $1000. but like i said no regrets on the used.

I just bought the P226 9mm Blackwater Tactical Edition and it is by far the best handgun I have shot! It is so smooth and everything about it is sweet other than the price lol! I would definitely get the P226 if you were wanting a full size 9mm! You should be able to get a regular P226 9mm at a gun show for around $700!

    That eliminates the 239.

Next question: classic Sig with metal frame or newer model with polymer frame...

    Classic:
You're looking at the P226 or P229. Both are tried & true - built like tanks. The 226 is Sigs flagship full framed 9mm. The 229 has a shorter barrel and slightly shorter grip so it could be concealed, but it's certainly not a sub-compact. I would have bought a P229 if money were no object.

    Poly:
You're looking at the P250 or Sig Pro 2022. The 250's selling point is it's modularity, but it's DAO (double action only) which is a deal breaker for many semi-auto shoppers. The 2022 has nearly identical dimensions as the metal 229 but with less weight, a higher capacity and lower price tag. There is a lot of bad press out there about this gun, but most Sig snobs agree that it is every bit as reliable as the classic metal-frame Sigs and has a better trigger to boot. Do a search on sigforum.com for endless unbiased positive feedback on the SP2022. It's what I chose, along with the French police and Jason Bourne.

Certified Pre Owned is indeed a great way to go. Check topgunsupply.com for good prices on CPO sigs. Let us know what you settle on.

My Sig P226 9mm is extremely reliable and accurate. Thousands and thousands of rounds trough it without a single failure. And I make a 6" group at 25 meters. :D

And it feels like a GUN in my hands, not like a toy.

You can get a used classic Sig P228, P226, or P225 all German made in great shape for $525-$650! If you are looking for a new Sig I would recomment the P229 or P226

    Nothing yet, brand new!
I carry a Sig P250 compact 9mm. I know someone will chime in about the trigger but honestly after running 500rds through it I have to say it feels great. Very smooth with a nice reset. The ability to change a few parts and have a new gun is also a plus.
