As the title states, which fully functional sliders do you believe are are the best as a running board/nerf bar/step.

I’m hoping for something that is low degrees, 0-10, has a treadplate that has good traction, runs the full length or close between the two wheel wells, yet can still be used as a slider and hilift jackpoint.

One of the things I’m hoping to be able to do is comfortably step from the slider to the top of the rear tire.

Looking at RCI sliders and how they curve, it had always looked like I couldn’t step to the tires from them. I like their treadplate. Do you mind taking a few more pics from a couple different angles - including straight profile?

I had them for a year before I went to a full-size truck. Build quality was excellent and installation was very straight forward. Here are some pics from when I listed them for sale F6370FF3-04CE-4521-BB1E-B961CC688DE0.jpg46555240-478D-4F6B-8368-7E73446B7570.jpg

Check out C4 fabrication sliders. The kickout comes to a point at the end that puts you close to the rear tire.

Thanks for the pics, Dave.

Maybe it's different in person, but I can't help but think that it still looks like a bit of a reach. It's not that I'm not capable of this level of climbing in general, but I worry about times where I've got snow on my boots, etc, or when I get older. For the past year, RCI sliders have been what I have expected to purchase for this truck. I absolutely love their design and options. But the more I think about it, the more focused I have become on how I will use the slider most often.

If I can't solve the rear step issue, I think these are exactly what I will get.

I have to admit, I really like the looks of these sliders. It's interesting that the two brands I have been largely favoring are two of the three sliders mentioned so far in this thread.

These sliders very much appear like they would work great as running boards all the way to the back. That said, what I don't like about them is that they only come as 25 degree sliders. As much as they look like a functional running board, their height puts them level with the door and thus they lose any advantage in helping my wife step into the lifted truck. I sent a message to C4 last week via these forums about whether they can make these as a 5 degree slider, but haven't heard back. If they can do it, that'd be money well spent I think.

    So close.

I swear, I'm not goldilocks. I may need to go the full custom route though. I do like the idea of supporting local makers, but I have to admit, I'd take a known and well-regarded maker first.

I ended up joining the group buy that RCI had a couple months ago and picked up a set of sliders, 5 degree with tread plate. After later talking myself out of the purchase, I changed my mind at the eleventh hour and decided to let them ship. They arrive Wednesday.

I was so back and forth on this purchase. I'm not convinced that they are the right running board/sliders, but I need to see them on the truck to decide for sure. I really wish they filled the space between the wheel wells more.

I guess I'll find out for sure if I like them when they get here. Thanks for the advice, folks.

Post pics when you have them on. They are the ones I'm considering as well, if I decide to get sliders.

I’ll second this. My kids use them all the time. My two year old climbs in on his own and I have a 2” lift.

I have RCI sliders with the tread plate, stepping from sliders to either tire is not a problem for me.

I am not a fan of the kickout for use as a running board/step. For kids, it's fine. For adults who want to just step straight down, the kickout always catches the back of the leg. If muddy, not so great to have your pants smeared in mud. If you have grip tape on top + shorts, ouch.

I like Slee and Shrockworks for that reason.
