I'm ready to do plugs and wires (and a fuel filter too) during my next oil change in a week or so. I'm wondering which are the best to go with, and also, I only need 3 wires correct, as I've been reading that one side is a coil pack? Any recommendations?

Three wires, three ignition coils. Use denso or NGK from the dealer. Get OEM wires from the dealer. They last long enough so no point in skimping. Add a dab of anti seize to plug threads (don't overdo it) and dielectric grease to part where plug attached to boot wire.

Also gap your plugs properly, "pre gapped" plugs are typically not. .043 is the measurement but I have no issues having them gapped at .040. Just don't make the gap larger than .043 since it's going to open up over time anyways

Thanks! I should source the plugs from the dealer as well, as opposed to Auto Zone or the like?

*EDIT* just saw that pic in your sig, what bumper is that? Mine is rusted to hell on both corners, like with a couple decent sized holes and its flaking off and just getting bigger. Was thinking about replacing it with that style instead of the factory one.

That's an arb bumper. I've had one on every yota I've owned! You need one too! Lol

Yes, your best bet is to get the plugs from the dealer, or order them from a discount dealer website like TRDparts4u.

I just did this. Got everything at the dealer, but when I asked about coilpacks they said I shouldn't have to replace them for the life of the truck, which I was glad to hear cause they're $105 each.

Plugs are very cheap from the dealer for these trucks. I think I paid $2.22 each and they are Denso plugs but some dealers may have NGK it just depends on the dealer and both brands are excellent. For wires I wouldn't pay for the oem ones though. For less than half the price just pick up the NGK wires which look and fit exactly like the stock ones only they are blue instead of grey or black. I bought my NGK wires off of Amazon for under $35.

Thanks (to everyone in this thread)!

For the wires I just need 3 right, not 6, cause of the CPs?

With the wires, its next to impossible to screw up because they're numbered and the length is tailored to each cylinder.

The diagram helps for where the wires go in the little clips more than anything :p

Original wires at 300,345. Changing plugs should I do wires and coils to or if it ain’t broke don’t fix it???? In process of changing AC Compressor , drier and condenser. 17 yrs lasted pretty long so I’m really not upset paying $900 for replacement. Definitely not dealer but Denso compressor which I hear holds up well. Let me know guys what u think
