Which Tacoma’s have start stop?

I reviewed some of the discussions going back to 2023. I don’t see any definitive information on which Tacoma trims have start/stop engines.

The 2024 Tacoma ebrochure doesn’t seem to mention the feature.

Does someone here know the answer?

Most of the Limited trim pics have the start/stop cancel button. I’ve seen some Off-road Premium owners mention their truck doesn’t have it.

What trims and combos have it?

 

I think all except OR, Hybrids, and Manuals?

 

doesn't seem to be the case. My SR5 4x4 did not have auto start stop, had a blank where it would go.

 

My hybrid has start/stop. It just doesn't have a cancel button. Which would defeat the purpose of a hybrid. Mine stops frequently at stop lights, downhills, and low speed cruising ~ 15 mph.

 

FYI. My VW has Start/Stop. Purchased an after market wire kit that defaults the system to always running.

 

My 23 TRD OR does not have it.

 

I have a 2024 Tacoma TRD SPORT with automatic and NO AUTO START/STOP. Thank you Toyota!!!!!

 

Limted gas model is the only one that has it right now. Technically none of they hybrids have the start/stop funtion.

 

My TRD Sport 4x4 doesn’t have it… thankfully

 

I think the non hybrid 4x4 models are the only ones that don't have it.

 

I’ve seen a number of 4x4, non hybrid Limiteds with the cancel switch.

I wish Toyota would answer this question in the ebrochure feature matrix.

 

Can we get a definitive answer to this? I have a 2025 trd off road hybrid and I’m hoping it doesn’t have the auto stop and start during stoplights.

 

From my search here it looks like only the limited trims have the auto start stop option.

 

It does not have start stop like some of the non hybrid have. What it does have is a hybrid system that will use the battery/electric motor only at low speed. When that happens the engine will not be on. If you don’t want that then you are getting the wrong truck.

 

No I understand that. I thought it also has the auto start stop feature to save gas at stoplights too like most modern cars have now days. Can this be confirmed?

 

So my point is that it is technically not the same start stop feature on some of the non hybrid models. Hybrids….at low speeds….will go to battery only mode and shut the engine off….usually. There will be cases where it will not due to battery level, temperature, climate control, etc.

 

Just purchased a 2025 Off-Road hybrid and it most definitely turns off the gasoline engine when conditions are met such as climate, stop lights, below 22 miles per hour, or parked and everything is warmed just like mentioned above.

There is no button for the "start/stop" cancel like found in traditional non-hybrid versions as it would defeat the purpose as previously mentioned.

 

I think you guys are misunderstanding me. I know the hybrids have the electric motor which turns off the gas motor at low speeds.

My question is does our hybrid Tacoma have the auto start stop feature where you come to a stop and the gas engine shuts off completely when the brakes are pressed and then the gas engine turns back on when letting off the brakes.

 

From what I understand, at least for the 24 models, 4x4 models do not have the start stop feature. I paid the extra $ for the 4x4 just so I would not have the start stop feature.

 

My SR5 4x4 does not have it however it does have the “brake hold” button which is kinda weird.
I did test drive a different SR5 4x4 that had the start/stop, as well as some other goofy modifications (black out emblems but gunmetal tailgate insert on an underground color, and those predator steps)
