Yeah sounds like I should probably go with the 2019. I unfortunately do not have a lot of time to decide. My other Tacoma was totaled when I was hit by someone texting and driving so currently carless and need a Tacoma for my upcoming elk hunt.

Do they have the same packages? Tech, premium, LED lights, nav, etc.

Yes you can turn those off. I hardly ever notice the blind spot monitoring but the cross traffic alert has saved me a couple of times when I couldn't see a car coming around a trailer parked in the road.

Yes, the 2017 comes with the Tow package and the 2019 is standard with the tow. They are the exact same in every way but the color and year.

Even with the issues, I sort of wish SW was an option for me. Being single stage, it is easy to fix and I wouldn't have to sweat pinstripe hell.

Nothing that a new wrap or Raptor Lining couldn't fix!

Half the time I love the color of my truck, the other half I'm looking on Auto Trade for Army Green trucks in my area and cringing hard at the price.

Yeah. It is a PITA. I'm thinking Derp when I eventually burn through the clear coat.

I haven't looked closely, but CB and Cement seem to deal well with pinstripes.

Newer is almost always better. In your case definitely better. 2019 also has better transmission software.

2.5 years later, other than shutting off in very heavy rain, not a single issue with the TSS and aside from people adding bro grills (changing sensor location), I never hear any. Like many, I hate to admit it, but it did catch a close call before I did when someone cut out in front of me. My insurance agent asked if it had the TSS, and said yes it reduced rates, but didn't say how much.
2 years newer typically will make a huge difference in resale.

I hate all that granny shit on the 19, but like mentioned resale should be higher. It makes no sense why the 17 is going fo the same price as the 19 if they both have equal mileage.

Yeah exactly. Unfortunately it seems every 3rd gen is priced based off of mileage and not year in the current market.

Good to know you can turn it off! I'm not surprised it's saved your butt. It's definitely a feature I wish I had (although I'd be sad to lose my chrome bumper). There's been a couple of times now that people have nearly taken my bumper off in the Costco parking lot because they came by fast and I couldn't see much around the car next to me. Not a fan of that mini heart attack :annoyed:

I'd personally go with 2019 for the adaptive cruise control and TSS.

TSS saved my ass with the auto brake one day when a car jumped in front of me in an exit lane and slammed on their brakes, and adaptive cruise is the best thing for long highway drives.

Aren’t used Tacoma’s going for just as much as new? Or within a few grand at least? If that were the case I’d buy new over the 19’. If you’re looking for something special that’s hard to find used may be your only option unless you’re willing to wait. Either way if it’s within a few grand I’d buy new.

I like my paint matched bumpers. I normally like chrome on a truck but in the case of the Tacoma, there is nothing on the front to balance it all out so it just looks odd in my opinion.
