I was recently considering changing out my 2nd gens oem steel wheels for 3rd gen aluminum ones. So I know that I will need new sensors aswell as lugnuts for the wheels because they are aluminum and that 3rd gen sensors don't work on 2nd gen trucks, but what I really want to know is which specific 2nd gen aluminum wheel tpms sensor will bolt right in to the 3rd gen aluminum wheel allowing compatability with the 2nd gen system? I did do some searching online but just wasn't seeing specific enough info. So I thought it best i just ask the experts here.

Found this part number. Would it work?

    Denso 550-0103 TPMS 315-MHZ

I had my TPMS replaced at Costco. Don't forget your spare tire too!

I have Autel MX sensors in mine, they work great but you need their tool to program them. We have the tool at work which is why I went this route.

Rock Auto carries the BH-sens TPMS adjustable angle sensors. They adjust via a screw from steel to alloy angles. I recently bought some for my new 3rd gen steel take off wheels I just installed on my 2006.
    The BH-sens sensors are RDE229V21.
I believe the Denso gen 2 steel 550-0103 will also fit but cannot confirm from experience. It was more peace of mind for me to just get the BH-sens adjustable sensors than get multiple answers from asking.

This is the one I was looking at on rockauto and it's listed as being for an aluminum alloy wheel, which is what i think I need. Have to say I Liked things much better on my older vehicles when I didn't have to worry about such stuff.

The made in Germany BH-sens will work on both steel and alloy.

How is that? Steel uses a different angle approach for the stem. Just curious. They must be snap-on stem type and not the nut/washer type then.

That is the only thing that makes the difference for the OEM sensors is the angle of the stem (for the nut/washer type).

The BH-sens have an adjustable angle stem. I was able to match the angle of gen 3 steel wheel sensors.

They have the sleeve that screws on the stem like many others.

These replies are worthless without prices.

I successfully used this one when one went bad. Now the rest of them have gone bad and I need to do the rest.

so approx $110 for remaining 3 if I use this one. Or around $150 if I add a 4th for spare Into a DIY spare simulator.

not aware of specifics like angle and compatability. FWIW I moved them into my later Method 701’s and they fit.

might be what came with the truck. Switched from alloy 5 spoke TRD sport original wheels to Method 701.
I’m not sure if different angle options just mean different angles of the valve stem regarding clearance, accessibility to check air pressure, etc.

OP didn't ask about price shopping for these sensors. Not sure why replies without prices is worthless.
