I have a 2022 Tacoma V6 AT 4WD. I have 5.29s and 33" tires and I am looking into tunes. I like the gear locking option and trying to identify which tunes and versions have that? I have searched the forum and the answer has not been easy to find so hoping someone can fill me in.

    Thank You

Do you want a tune that will not allow your truck to downshift when you press the pedal hard enough?

If you don't want the truck to upshift, just use S-Mode.

Sounds like a really good way to fry the OD clutch

Long story short, I think you can get the gearlock option with any of the current “name” tunes, if you request it. Also changeable if you find you don’t need it.

The early OV tunes had a gear lock option and I found it handy when towing my camper. It worked by unlocking the torque converter and staying in the gear that was selected, 4th, 5th etc, and downshifting was only accomplished by selecting a lower gear.

The KDMax tunes can be optioned for gear lock if you want it but I’ve discovered that for my application, gear lock is not necessary because the tune makes it all work so good. With v10.0, I can get the TC to unlock, with a little pedal finesse, and stay in 4th gear (essentially gearlock) where, before KDM, and without gearlock, it would need to downshift to a lower gear. (Also, probably helps that I tow on the prairies.)

My vehicle has stock gears, stock size wheels and tires.

Thank you for the information. I am also towing a camper which is where I would find the gear lock useful.

if you’re towing a camper, you should be in fourth gear.

I have KDMax with GL. It's useful for road trips...the hills and wind..
