King ex travel, JBA UCA’s, All Pro Springs/shackles, Locked, all new poly bushings & rack, SS brake & clutch lines, ext bumps for starters.
I have both brands and need opinions on which to use and mounting 285/75/16’s with 16x8 wheels with King Ext. travel coil overs.

Hi, I'm new here and have on order a set of JBA's. My limited understanding is while both help with caster and extended travel you might need to look at your wheel backspacing to clear the JBA.

    https://support.jbaoffroad.com/faq/what_wheel_n_tire_combo_works_with_jba-7.0.hc.ez

I chose JBA for the ball joint vs. uniball in addition to price point. I am planning on going with 265/75-16r on the stock wheels for now or I will be looking for an 8" wheel with max 4.25-4.5" backspacing for future increase in tire size.

EDIT: Sorry I just noticed this was gen1 not gen3 which I have.

When I did my lift many years ago, I installed the TC uniballs. No rubbing and I am still running with the stock wheels (with 285 tires).

TC's are definitely lower profile, mine are nowhere near the wheel, but I have stock wheels, too.

That said, I don't think people generally have issues with JBAs clearing wheels unless you're running wheels with absurdly large backspacing, putting the wheel closer than necessary to the suspension.

If you don't live in a salty/snowy area, i would pick the T/C UCAs. lower profile and the currently the JBAs have had issues with ball joint boot cracking after a few months.

Big fan of the lower maintenance on JBAs, and more articulation. Havent heard anything about the boot cracking like jmferg noted, that is something to look into.

Thx for the replies, I have Raceline 16x8 wheels with 4.5” backspacing and the rep “said you should be good” with that with either UCA. I’ll know by the weekend as the new rack & pinion will be here Friday.

Greater articulation perhaps, but at the expense of strength. Although I've heard the exact opposite as well: that BJs do not provide more articulation. And a little squirt of lube every once in a while is all the maintenance you really need.

I have extended travel Kings, and my TC uni's are no where near their limits of travel. People with longer travel shocks than I have don't seem to complain about limited travel, either.

That said, most people, me included, probably don't really need that extra strength of uni's anyway, so run run what ever floats your boat.

Personally I like the uniballs. I feel more articulation and it’s very controllable with these arms. I think built right is to small of a company to get any service from them but they do have good parts

God I feel like JBA always has some kind of issue going on. I ended up buying camburgs 6 or so years ago over the JBA because they had some other problem at the time.
