    More than I can afford
I have an Smittybilt XRC8 on one truck.
It is a loud, grindy slow thing that sounds like it is going to die at any minute but has never let me down. I have recovered full size trucks with it, pulled cars onto trailers, pulled blown over fences down etc. Truck lived outside for quite a while so it is bleached, rusty and the powdercoat is coming off.

Other (new truck) has a Warn M8000. I have yet to use it to pull anything but I have function tested it. It is quite a bit better built, faster, smoother and doesn't sound like it is going to die. Also came with a wireless controller that works well and a wired controller that doesn't feel like a Chinese toy.

When I was looking, it was between the Warn M8 or the Smitty X2O. I ended up with the X2O with synthetic rope for a steal of price. I’ve used it at the dunes for other people and it works. I also like that the remote is wireless, or can be wired.

I like your set up. At first I couldn’t even find the winch. We haven’t yet started our trip. we are quitting our jobs in April and will ship our truck in May once we clean out our house. We will definitely be starting a trip blog on Instagram. The Tacoma world thread I started is called, Taking a Tacoma around the world, need advice, this where I’ll be Letting people know what we’re up to.

Just trying to match the boring white truck. Eureka, CA?! I lived there for 25 years, moved away five years ago.

Small world. Coincidentally, we moved here about 5 years ago!
