When there was an actual cable between your foot and the throttle plate then yeah the computer needed to know the pos for fuel calc , kickdown,etc..

Now the throttle body is actually a electric motor that communicates with the pcm

The crappy shifting is because they're under more and more strict emission and mpg regulations and there isn't a whole lot you can do about it

I used to have a 2012 TRD OR manual. Every time I put the clutch in to shift or come to a stop the engine rpms would stay hi for a second and then drop down . Like the engine had a heavy flywheel or something washoldi g the throttle open. It was kinda annoying and it didn't feel like mannys I'd driven in the past. The the software in the pcm was written specifically to hold the throttle open for a second on purpose. By not allowing quick changes in rpm and engine load the pcm can calculate better fuel econ and emissions. Your auto is doing the same thing itdoesnt want to shift gears because every time it has to shift it has to change to a completely diffe rent fuel strategy. It is being stubborn by design.

This is the way carsare being built now. If you want lightning fast revs and crisp shifting get a z06 vette.. trucks haul campers and trailers..

The new Subaru have cvts and they suck ass! They never shift! Read about them! But they can wring another mpg or two out of the car so here they are.. to stay..

Well (OP) is no longer viewing this thread without response like most of yesterday, failed attempt at trolling, even with significant effort to sound legit on post 2 that got shot down in flames.

    Well done b_r_o
