    It's not honor system, the untaxed fuel is usually dyed. It'd be hard to get caught with a car, but on big trucks they do check for this. If DOT finds you using red diesel on road, there are big fines and you owe the unpaid taxes.

    An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
    I know around my area they have been cracking down on it for awhile. Over the past two years I know three guys that have been caught. They ended up with a $1,000 ticket. About four years ago I was driving my 3/4 ton, got pulled over for 3 over the speed limit. The cop could care less about the speed, but used it to pull me over so he could dip the take and see if I was running off road diesel.

    They have the gas tank out and cleaned. He said they need to flush everything out and check the injectors. He said 50/50 the injectors made it. It will probably be another 3-4 hours

    Well they pulled the tank, cleaned and flushed everything, and checked the injectors and said everything was good to go. $850 total.

    I have a 300 mile drive home so I guess I'll see If I have any issues then.

    I would keep records of everything. Including what they said about the injectors in case they go out 6mo down the road or something and give a copy to gas station. Just to cover yourself.
