    IT IS!

I don't care though. Don't touch my truck!

I have a trick. Well, most of the gas attendants know me and they just let me pump my own because it's less work for them. But, if it's a gas station I don't frequent, I pull up to the pump farthest from the attendant and jump out real quick and do it myself.

Dealer said they estimate about 500-600 if all they have to do is drain the tank and flush the system but they wont know if anything else is wrong until they get in there.

Not a chance. We had a few guys put gas in their diesel. Bill was over 11k. If the dealer really wants to make money they will. These trucks have 12 injectors. They aren’t easy to get to. They can replace both pumps, fuel lines and rails all the labor involved. It will surely be a few grand if they milk it. The tow alone will be almost $200

Looks like the OP shut down as soon as there was a problem. This alone probably saved a major repair bill. Once the diesel is flushed out and some gasoline added I guess that would be the tell. I would try and get an extended warranty on the engine or something out of it.

I didn't include tow or rental car costs. I was just thinking of the repair bill.

I’m sure flushing the lines and draining the tank would be fine. But I’ve worked for 2 auto groups for 10 years and just about everyone I know would milk that job and replace just about everything so they could turn some hours on the job. Not saying all techs are that way but you’d be surprise some of the shit they pull. I doubt there is much damage but my concern would be with that high pressure pump and the injectors. Even if they flushed everything and it ran afterwards I would still want those replaced regardless of it was my truck

I doubt it’s on them. Probably the trucking company. Someone’s insurance will cover it. Might be a little bit of a hassle. I would be requesting a rental. Incase parts need to be ordered and it’s a few days out. Plus at the end of it’s a hassle getting the bill paid and the dealer won’t let you take the truck until they have been paid, you got a rental in the mean time

I don't think you realize the difference here....

Putting diesel in a gasoline vehicle isn't all that bad, you need to flush it all out to get it working again but its not going to destroy anything.

Putting gas in a diesel engine is much MUCH worse as the fuel acts as the lubricant and gasoline doesn't have that property so it will literally destroy a diesel engine in seconds if its running on pure petrol.

    BIG difference between the two.

Yeah, hope it's a quick fix. I'm 4 hours from home.

Wouldn't mind a rental if I was in town and just had to be inconvenienced a few days.

Fraud, thats called fraud. And just because you worked with a bunch of shady people doesn't mean thats the norm.

I've worked at multiple dealer groups as well and never saw anyone commit fraud in the decade I've been in the business. We've had fraud committed the other way all the time but no reputable mechanic/advisor/manager is going to risk their livelihood over a few hundred dollars. If you experienced otherwise then you worked with a bunch of idiots.

I’m well aware of the difference. Obviously it’s a lot bigger problem putting petroleum in a diesel. Just because diesel acts as a lubercant doesn’t mean that it couldn’t clog injectors or seals. Sounds like the engine didn’t run very long so I doubt any damage is done to the catalytic converter. Still not something I would want to try out on my truck. Especially being an Atkinson/Otto motor

Apples to Oranges. Diesel fuel in regular gas engine is easy to clean out, gas in a diesel engine does major damage.
