People do it all the time with warranty companies. They get warranty companies to pay for things all the time that shouldn’t be covered. Just like warranty work. How many times do customers bring their cars in claiming they didn’t do something knowningly harmful causing damage and guess what? The dealer covers and Toyota foots the bill. Seen it happen thousands on times and it happens on here all the time too. People beating the shit out of their trucks, clean then up take back to the dealer and play dumb. Do you think all the techs are that stupid? Most of the reason a lot of techs will deny work is because they get paid more for customer pay over warranty work. So they benefit when they submit the claim to toyota claiming they see/suspect abuse. Fraud? Of course by definition. But isn’t it also fraud to try and sell people services and shit they don’t need? Just about any place does that

Right! There is no lubricating factor to gasoline. Gas is not friendly on diesel high pressure fuel pumps.

You're confirming what I just said... fraud happens the other way ALL THE TIME, but the dealerships themselves committing fraud is rare as fuck. As much as everyone on here loves to circle jerk about how evil dealerships are its the customers that lie WAY more often because they have nothing to lose. Customer lies about the abuse on his truck? no consequences. Adviser tries to commit fraud agains't another company?? They just lost not only their current job but also any hope of being hired at any other dealer as well. Again, BIG difference you don't seem to comprehend.

Also, techs don't get to deny shit if anything that would be the advisers but even then ultimately its the MFG denying claims not dealer employees.

Evidently not so obvious to you, you told OP about how it was an $11k repair bill even though thats a completely different situation....

There used to be... it was called lead. It had a side benefit of also upping the octane rating. Over 100 was a common octane rating.
Then there was this whole carcinogen, lead is bad for you thing (who knew?). So it went away (much like the dinosaurs).
If you ever play with an old car and pull the oil pan - make sure you wear double gloves and dispose of the sludge appropriately. It is where all the lead ends up.
Fun fact, your body does not have a mechanism to remove lead... It accumulates. They can only filter your blood to slowly remove it.

    Great album!

Always, always, always get your receipt!

@Loudog504 , sorry about the issues OP. I've never heard of this issue ( other than individuals filling their tank making the mistake ) and this has been an enlightening read. I hope everything works out for you and I'm sure we all look forward to knowing the resolution.

I don’t think you understand at all. I worked at several dealerships. Toyota, GM, Ford, Honda, Nissan Chrysler. Doesn’t matter where, always a service advisor or tech taking advantage of something. That’s how they make money, and like anything money leads to greed. Techs are the one who translate the shit to the advisors. And in a lot of places they are the ones storying the claims, not only to their own system but also to the engineers when they have issues they can’t figure out. Now you can sit here and argue that telling an engineer they see signs of abuse has nothing to do with the warranty aspect of it and for the most part you are correct. But there are many times when they cross paths. Especially on something big where a buy back or serious problem occurs and multiple people are involved. Really depends on the dealership. Some have full time warranty clerks, who’s main responsibility it is. Others the service manager will take control of some of that duty, or they have the service advisors do it. But it’s usually the tech who makes the initial call, most service advisors don’t know a lot. Especially ones that haven’t been in the field very long.

I’m not gonna get into a pissing match with you over it. Bottom line is shady shit happens everywhere. Anywhere someone can make a few extra bucks, most will. There are some very honest people in this business and I don’t want to take anything away from them, but tons of people who know how to profit off the system.

Obviously you don’t read anything I said, probably just too concerned with trying get into a pissing match. I never said it would cost 11k. I’m saying a job my buddy did at our Ford store was 11k on a diesel that someone filled with gas. I said my guess on OP’s truck would be 7k. That was assuming everything was to be replaced of course. I don’t think that’s out of the ballpark if you were to quote new lines, all injectors, rails, fuel pump, high pressure fuel pump, filter, and all the labor involved in tearing it all apart to do so. This isn’t a 2.0 DOHC motor with the injectors and everything sitting right on top. Now I’m not saying all the shit needs to be replaced. What I was saying is if the shop knows it wasn’t the fault of the OP and the gas station or the trucking company or whomever is footing the bill, they might want to replace everything

Fun fact, that's incorrect. Lead in the blood leaves the body after several months, but can stay in the bones for decades.

If you believe that, don't eat fish ever again.

I never get my receipts when I get gas. Until today. Good lessons to learn here and I'm sorry for OPs back luck w/ this station. Hopefully they truly make it right, but something tells me its gonna be awhile before he's driving HIS truck :(

It’s getting late in the day and a lot of shops don’t finish big repairs on the weekends. Hopefully OP’s truck is done tonight. If not he might be shit out of luck. Hopefully if not he was atleast put in a rental. Being that far without a car from home has gotta suck. Hopefully he doesn’t get screwed for the weekend

I put 5 gallons of diesel in an old Ford Taurus once. I was 1500 miles from home, in the middle of a cross-country move. Turns out the station (which had all grades of fuel in the same pump) had JUST switched the colors on the nozzle handles that very afternoon. Clerk said I was the third person to make the mistake.

Tried siphoning it, but couldn't get a hose past the filler neck. Eventually a small town tow driver helped me pull a fuel line off the secondary fuel pump and drain it. Every time I turned my key to the "on" position, about a half pint of fuel would come out. So I sat there doing that for a while...

Filled up with 93 octane and hit the road. Engine misfired for about 20 miles but then ran fine. I stunk like diesel after that.
