    Oh yeah I feel demoralized...

Ya know OP from your vid i almost want to say check your idler pulley, going by the sound & if everything clutch wise is working right, I don't have a manual trans, thats why I asked you guys with clutches what kind of life are you getting out of them, thats a pretty bizzare noise for sure but if a few of you say thats not unusual for that kind of sound for a manual trans so be it, good luck dude..;)

Best to replace it with a chrome one.

    Just trying to help.

I doubt the idler pulley as the sound goes away when the clutch is depressed. It could just be the input shaft bearing as someone mentioned earlier. I have had transmissions make this noise from new and others develop it over time.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    That's what I'm thinking
The noise will get louder over time, then the bearing fails, You're call.
    *seconds motion.

OP, remove the boot on the clutch fork then, with that little red hose attachment, spray some WD-40 ON THE BEARING ONLY. And I mean a small squirt. Just enough top get some one the bearing. If the sound goes away, problem isolated.

I'm having the same noise with my tranny. sound goes away when clutch pedal is depressed. I pulled the boot on my fork, but cannot get my head in there to see the bearing. Where is that bearing ?

This is exactly how mine is acting. I've been told it's normal, but it seems very odd to me. I've driven other 5 speeds, and never heard that stuff.....

When clutch pedal is out, whether in neutral or gear - it whines. Clutch pedal in, no whine. I hear it in all gears (a lot less noise in 4th).

I just got the truck, and meticulous records of service were kept. :)
Wondering if I should bite the bullet and get the tranny serviced, but I don't want to have the sound come back in a month. Cause that would enrage me...
