whiney engine when cold

    I've got the v6 and it seems to have a whine on colder mornings (by socal standards so lower 50's). It goes away after driving a bit or if the air is warmer/truck is parked in the sun... any idea what this could be? thanks.

    I had/have that in my truck, too. Mine sounded like the sound when you crank your wheels to full lock and hold it there. It lessened after I had the failing power steering pump replaced, so check into that. I haven't noticed it recently, but I haven't been starting it in cold temperatures (below 40) lately, either.
