Definitely need more info to understand your issue here.

Mine has very loud gear whine. Sounds like it's right under me like it's the transmission but i believe its the rear diff. Certain gears with certain speed or rpms with a certain load makes it change pitch and volume. Mainly only hear it in the overdrive gears but I have heard it in lower gears a few times.

i have a 2.7L that doesn't make any whining noises fwiw. no gear whine or engine whine. do you have a video OP?

edit: i do get the a/c whine sometimes in the summer. only when the a/c is on. doesn't really bother me just figured it was a quirk of the truck

no ones mentioned this but intake whine?

I hesitate to suggest that because I'm hearing a whine/whistle in my 17 3.5 offroad. When I accelerate sometimes I hear it......but I might be hearing it from the back so that's started to concern me. it's ONLY during certain accels...I'm trying to pin it down right now but what I've gathered is moderately hard accel, 30-60mph is the range it occurs but at different times not from 30 to 60, it just occurs at random in that range but ALWAYS during moderate level accel. it lasts until I let off the throttle a little then goes away almost immediately

OP if this doesn't sound like what you've got please say because I don't wanna thread jack, I'll make my own...just seeing if we have similar issues. coat tails and all ;)

Same for my access cab v6 sr5. No noises like that whatsoever. In 6th overdrive, its a quieter riding truck than my 2001 tundra was in od 4th gear.
