Anyone have a recording of said sound. I recently started hearing a whine noise when revving the engine. It's not very loud but it is noticeable especially between 2000-3000 rpm and silent at idle. It does it in neutral and when accelerating

Maybe you have a pulley going bad, had one do that about 30 years ago, was never able to find it till it froze up and broke the belt.

Truck only has 18k miles. It's been really dusty because of the winds and I did an oil change about a week ago. Started hearing the noise 2-3 days later.

Has anyone in this thread that have these symptoms found out what was causing them?

Pulleys can go bad even early on.

I'll try to make a video or audio recording and post it. Like someone else posted. It sounds similar to supercharger whine except not nearly as loud. It is silent at idle and matches the engine speed somewhat.

Honestly mine went away.....nothing changed on the truck, still bone factory stock. I wonder if something got loose or torqued down during a service that cause harmonics, but went away after the next service.

I believe it's something to do with the AC compressor. My truck had this noise but it went away. Maybe the serpentine belt just had to wear in.

Maybe your baby in the back seat has a wet diaper or the acceleration is comforting.....wheeee?

My truck has done this since I got it. It seems to only happen to me when there is a cross wind.... never did anything about it and 22k miles later it's still good.

I thought the whining was from Chevy and ford owners

I just started getting the same noise today actually, only when accelerating and silent at idle. Any luck on it? was it a pulley?

I think it was a normal sound. It is probably just belt noise but harmless and not super noticeable in the first place. I took it to the dealer and we compared it to another truck and it makes the same noise.

I think what most are discribing is a harmonic frequency from the intake system. Mine does it and it typically changes in pitch and then goes away. I have no idea what causes it but it sounds like a tea kettle under the hood just not as loud as a tea kettle. It hasn’t caused any issues for me so I let it go.

This is a close description to what It sounds like. a little tea kettle under the hood/behind the dash. always 2k rpm or 3k rpm for me right on the peak of a shift, and gets louder as the rpms go up. Not too loud, however.
