Whining noise

    I have 2012 Toyota Tacoma pre runner, today when I started the truck a whining noise appeared, when I accelerate it gets louder but once above 40 mph it goes away. I’ve heard it a bad alternator but I’m not to sure

    Could be a bad drive belt. It could also be time for new pulleys and idlers. I had an electronic-sounding whine after I purchased my 2013 Prerunner, and new pulleys, idlers and belt did the trick.

    When I had a pre-purchase inspection done, the Toyota service center recommended those components be changed eventually. Then, the noise kicked in shortly after purchase. So I had my mechanic take a look and he confirmed.
