Took my truck in a week ago for the rear end whine. Dealer said there were no applicable TSB’s to fix the problem. Then told me there were 2 rubber plugs on the front of the frame
That needed to be installed and this would take away the whining. Not in stock but they would order them. They called and made an appointment to install after they came into stock. Took the truck in this morning and they told me close to 2 hrs to install the plugs. I asked why it would take close to 2 hours for installation and they had no response. Looks like I will be living with the holes in the frame and NOT returning to that dealer for anything.

I think you can put tape over them until they plug them.

Those are the LCA plugs which some 2017s already had done from the manufacturer/dealer at the pre-inspection. The rear diff howl is a completely different noise if that's what OP is referring to. But there is a TSB out for that as well.

As said above, Rear Diff Howling is completely different from the LCA whistle noise.

That is what I tried to tell them that the howling was coming from the rear end but the rep from the dealer said this was the problem. They also stated that the rear end in the truck was not covered by any TSB's for the howling or whining. Anybody got the TSB number that I need? The truck is a 2017 TRD Sport 4x4 4 door.
