To start off I have a 2005 Tacoma 4.0L 6-Speed and for the last two weeks or so, I have been hearing a strange noise coming from underneath my truck. It sounds like a light metal on metal sound, nothing major. The kicker is that I only hear it when my engine RPMs are at 2k. Not 1950 or 2050, only 2k. I have checked all heat shields, and drive shaft items even though I know since it is RPM related and not speed related that it has something to do with the engine. It only happens under load as well so I could not replicate it when I had my rear jacked up and on jack stands. Also, I started noticing this sound right around the time that I rotated my tires, however I could not find any problems as I pulled off all the wheels and checked for anything that could have accidentally gotten bumped. Any ideas?
