few of the rapture lights went out a while back, I took all of it out, just the wire left, i taped off the connection to stop moisture. would that be the cause?

update on the noise, turned out the alternator was starting to go. Was driving me nuts not knowing what was causing the whining noise. Alternator died while I was on the throughway late at night, everything started to shut down., blah blah. AAA towed it to my residence, replace the alternator the coming morning with 130amp refurb. Trucks sounds normal again.
