    Mine does it too.

They claim to not be able to hear it at the dealership but it's there. I have 15k miles on the truck. It's done it since new and hasn't gotten worse.

Damn, that can't be normal though. I'm thinking maybe the shocks from the rough surface I was driving on may have shook the transmission slightly out alignment or damaged the pilot bearing then. I just want my truck to last a long time.

It's probably the throw-out bearing.. they can get noisy pretty quickly. If it doesn't get any louder don't worry about it , it could make that same whirring sound for 300k and never get louder. If if does get louder replace it before it seizes up

I'm doing some research and I have reason to believe the pilot bearing may have been damaged somehow. There is no noise when my foot is off the clutch or when at a complete stop, so that probably rules out the throw out bearing. Will try to record a video or some audio if anyone is interested. Thanks everyone so far.

Make sure to check all around the transmission etc for dirt or rocks that could be wedged between the transmission and the cab or frame. I've had something similar happen before, an it amplifies any noise. Even noises you didn't hear before and that could be normal just sound different in that scenario.

Sounds like a TOB issue. When not pressed the TOB can make the noise your experiencing but usually goes away when you press the clutch in. This is normal.

In your situation it's the opposite so it could be failing. I would bring it in to the dealer. Things like this normally don't fix themselves.

OP - when i press the clutch it sounds like quiet a whoosh of air or almost like a turbo blow-off. I hear it when I am in line at a drive thru like McDonalds or something. Normal daily driving I do not hear or simply don't pay attention. I truly believe it is perfectly normal.

I'll listen to mine, but I haven't noticed any noises related to pushing down the clutch (aside from the clutch pedal squeak/creak). And I'm pretty sensitive to noises since I have the diff howl, squeaking clutch pedal, I had the fuel pump crickets that mysteriously went away, and rattling dash.

Lube the Pivot Points on the pedal with Disc Brake Grease and that will take care of that.

Took it for a drive this morning in the cold and couldn't hear it. Then as the truck warmed up I only could barely hear a whisper when the tranny is in gear and clutch pedal pressed. Perhaps a bearing surface became coated in dirt.

Hi again guys. Just want to let you know that I've made an important observation. This noise is only heard when the clutch pedal is pressed and the transmission is in gear and truck is moving. As soon the transmission is moved to neutral or truck comes to a halt the noise stops. I'm guessing this noise might not be a serious issue and may just be synchro or gear noise that could indicate that the tranny is starting to break in. I'm guessing a high quality oil change could eliminate this noise. Does anyone have a final opinion, thanks!!

Wouldn't hurt to drain and fill the gear oil.. make sure to check for metal particles..

Considering there is " NO " pilot bearing on this transmission , I am going with the input to output shaft bearing .

I was considering that but then again, why would one of those parts fail on a 1000 mile truck designed for off-road, I also take great care to not ride the clutch .

    No bushing or bearing .
When you push the clutch pedal to the floor on older transmissions , the pilot bearing supports the weight of the clutch disc that,s spinning at 2000 rpm .
The newer designed transmissions 2005 and up 6 speeds use the input shaft to support the clutch disc. They say the bearings have been beefed up to support the extra rotating weight of the clutch disc ,but with all the throw out bearing issues , I beg to differ

I'm pretty sure I'll find some metal, I accidentally cooked the 3rd gear synchro when I didn't press the clutch far enough when I still getting used to the truck. I also had a instance where 1st was being blocked and not meshing properly and thus ground it twice as well when truck was at 400 miles.
