this may sound really stupid but has anyone heard any whirring sounds from their parked truck? I was in my basement at around 10:30 pm cleaning up some stuff when I heard something that sounded like a distant air compressor. I wondered what moron would be running that outside when I realized that the sound wasn't distant...rather it was coming from near my truck. After looking around like an idiot for the source of the sound (opened tailgate, looked under tonneau cover), I ducked next to my left rear wheel where the sound was the strongest...definitely sounded like sort of air pump. after a few more seconds it stopped.

    any ideas?

maybe it's not the truck at all, but the sound was definitely closest once I crouched next to the rear wheel
