Awesome build! I agree on the soft natural lights. Maybe just glass or Plexi doors? You keep pushing me to up my Jack collection!

Haha you have all the rare bottles I need.. and now that I am going to have to redesign a new cabinet.. I will need the measurements from that 3L .. overall height in the cradle s the most important so i can space the shelves.

The thought behind the doors is to keep the light and the dust off.. so maybe tinted lexan/plexiglass doors would have worked on this one. Now I am thinking a purpose built oak cabinet. Obviously integrated led lighting is a must .. probably going to be a good spring project instead of more cutting boards that I don't need LOL

Next trip I go on I'll do my best to snag ya one. You can buy the cradle and empties on eBay but that's no fun not opening a new one :D

    This is pretty cool...

Quick question - do you have a favorite distillery?

Exactly... I've seen some original wooden cradles online.. but none for sale..

Haha.. honestly.. I do drink other whiskeys.. I recently moved this cabinet before I stared fooling with the lighting and had taken all the other bottles out .. the Jack is definitely the focus but it's not exclusive.

So I don’t know how this would look or come out but maybe cut holes in the plexi and then light the plexi. See if the lighting would transfer. I would do this separate from the main lighting more for an effect than anything.

The bottles sit down in the holes cut into it, keeps them from moving and puts light directly into the base. Maybe use etched lines leading from the edges to the cutouts.

Was also thinking a double door with some nice designs on the doors then also light the doors. Like maybe plexi over the wood or open the wood and still have plexi doors inside with the lights on. This way you can keep the dust down then shut the wood and kill off all the light.

You’re welcome. Been trying to think of some cool stuff you could do. If you look into smart pixel LEDs you can even control each pixel in the strip individual and make some pretty cool effects. That’s what I use for my lighting displays.

So with pixel LEDS you need to have a controller for them. They sell them premise but I just built mine out of a Raspberry Pi. If you want to go that route I can get you the pin outs and stuff for the Pi. The pi and the pixels I use run off 5v which can be passed from the pi itself. I buy my 5v LEDS from a place called Holidaycoro online they are actually having a sale right now. All the software you need to run is also free online. If you go this route let me know and I’ll get you all the links and stuff you need. :)

Found a piece of scrap Lexan and just a quick attempt at one of the ideas..the edges aren't polished and the lines are just scratched in there with an awl so the lines are not the same consistent depth and they aren't smoothed out.. it's only to show the thought process.
