    Hi TW,

I've been loving my used 2005 Tacoma.

Currently at 157k miles and recently I've had a high pitched whistling sound that starts at higher RPM.

I took it to a shop and the guy is guessing exhaust and/or manifold issues. He thinks worst case, damaged manifold, and would need replacing. Reading some older threads, there seemed to be some similar issues but nothing directly resolved.

This sound about right to you? I have an appointment to get the truck looked at in a couple weeks and will update then.

    Thanks

I just went through this on my 2015. My windshield was in crooked and @110-140km/h (I'm Canadian) it would let out a loud whistle. Check the top of your windshield on the drivers side and compare it to the passenger side. Mine was out over 1/8 of a inch

    Door seals is another one.

    Review mirrors.

Lower control arms Have holes in them they plug.

This is what I went through with toyota

Exhaust usually makes a tick like sound. And just pray if it is the exhaust manifold they don't break any bolts pulling it off. I'd be looking for a second opinion.

I'll give that a look. It does sort of sound like it is coming from the engine and weird that it only occurs at certain RPM.

I'm going to get a 2nd look tomorrow. Guy also said exhaust since it's mostly occurring on acceleration but I will update after.

Update if anyone cares: After a little exploration, I'm pretty sure that the shocks and/or struts are the culprits. If I move the bed up and down while in it, I can recreate the sound. They are quite old, so I guess I'm in the market for new/used ones. Thanks all for your help!
