I have this problem too, it's hard to replicate as it only happens in the right cross winds.

I have the same issue at highway speeds with strong crosswinds. It is definitely the door being pulled away by the wind shears in my case. And, it certainly sounds like a kazoo. Personally, I think it is probably a design flaw that Toyota overlooked during the process of actually getting the truck from paper to pavement. My Dad has an '05 Dodge Durango that has similar design flaws where the doors are pulled away from the rest of the body under high wind shear forces. It just seems to be something Tacoma owners get to deal with...

I know mine is definitely the doors. The noise is coming from beside my head where the top corner of the door is. Happens all the time. Very annoying.

Does anyone with an access cab have this issue? I never experienced this when I had my 2011 access cab, it only started once I went to a double cab.

I had a 2011 AC and had a similar issue, the dealership changed the seal around the windshield and it went away.

4 year later I purchase a 2015 AC, within the first week I get a similar noise on cross winds. This time the noise is concentrated either at the passenger door or passenger side windshield. Bought Tacoma 2week ago. I call the dealership and emphasized my disappointment with the repeated issue. They ordered another windshield seal and are ready to change it on my next visit.

On my way home from work I had severe wind noise while crossing a marsh on a windy day. I pulled the passenger mirror in and the noise disappeared. I repeated mirror opened then closed with the same effect. Well today I had the mirror folded and the noise came back.

In my case it seems that the mirror has an effect on the noise. Is the mirror causing turbulence and directing the wind to create this annoying melody or is the mirror the musical wind instrument?

I taped all the seams at the pivot of the mirror, still have wind noise. Next I will tape the gap around the mirror and mirror holder. We will see. If still present I will continue tapping possible causes till I pinpoint my annoying issue.

That's interesting. Mine definitely isn't windshield noise, but I'll give the mirrors a try and see what happens.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
EDIT: Ignore this post. I was dead convinced this was the solution to the kazoo. It wasn't. Seems to be the seal between the A pillar and door. Still trying to solve it.

If you have the kazoo noise that seems to come from the passenger mirror area when a hard crosswind hits the truck, do me a favor and pull this corner plastic piece off the window trim:
    trim1_zpsdcazlgkk_7c009ed091134ae9c649c6fb44a465662c88fb42.jpg

I played with taping the window seals and all kinds of things. I pulled this piece off and haven't heard a peep since. Pull yours off, throw it in the glove box, and see what happens. It will take 3 seconds. It is held in place by one tab on the inward side.
    trim2_zpsykzgqkhz_4dcbda5304fd2574a168ce92fa97ab5615c47973.jpg

My theory is that the wind lifts it under certain conditions and the outer side of it vibrates like a reed, possibly against the underside of the hood. Mine has scratch-like grooves that match the underside of the hood as if it was hitting it.
    trim3_zps5apn24no_8c37a5db72a7baecd913d61a79601ea3d3b684af.jpg

Like I said, I pulled mine after much experimentation and I haven't heard the kazoo since. Nothing but blissful silence. Give it a shot a report back.

Mines on the driver side, but I'll try this also. Anything to get rid of that noise.

there is also one of these on the driver side.

The passenger side did it way more on me, and if you look at the drip rail its easy to see why as there is a hole for water to go under this piece on the passenger side and not on the driver (design of the drip rail) air gets under and vibrates it.

I siliconed the shit out of mine over the weekend, i expect it to be windy on my trip to mammoth tomorrow morning to ill report back.

Seems to be an acoustic option the double cab engineers decided to bless us with.

I'll have to look into this. It hasn't been windy lately around here.

I have the same noise and it was driving me crazy. The dealer says that's the way they are engineered and they don't have a solution to fix it. I was driving down the road with cross winds and started taping off areas with painters masking tape. Taped off the windshield and the noise in cross winds are non existent. I have some chips in my windshield so I'll have a new one installed, but not by the dealer.

'13 doublecab.... I have the kazoo with cross wind.

Seems like it comes from passenger side, but I'm sure that has more to do with which way the crosswind is coming from.

If it ever starts to bother me enough I'll try taking that piece off.

Well.... that piece IS NOT the problem.

I made sure to cruise a little faster than normal in some crosswinds on my trip yesterday and the day before so i knew that it would make the sound.

ITS 100% the door seal making the kazoo sound. The sound was constant, i pull on the door handle of the passenger side (where the sound was coming from) and the noise stopped immediately.

After I unload my truck today I am going to see what i can do about the door seal to firm it up, I have a hunch on what i can do that would be very easy.

My 2011 does this, but my 2007 does not.
I don't know why that is.

Took the small corner windshield trim out, noise is still there.

Ill take some pics of the 3 strips of dripper pipe i put in the door seal to hold it tighter to the door frame and door, I have yet to be in conditions that this would do the noise in so i cant say its going to work.

But looking at the seal, It looks like it could be it vibrating due to weird air currents off the lower antenna, right at were the seam of the door, a pillar, and top of the passenger fender meet. I have added dripper pipe to fill those voids so air can not get in there and under the seal.

Yep. Time for me to eat crow...I took a trip to southern MN this weekend and the first good side blast of wind made the kazoo noise. I thought that corner piece was it. I'll go back and edit my post so future readers don't get led astray. I taped the window seal and it was still doing it. My wife was riding with so I made her try to figure it out. She said it sounded like it was coming from the A pillar. It has to be the seal between the door and pillar. Sorry guys and gals.
