I found something very disappointing. Reading around the other day about the new 2016 model Tacomas, I came across a thread here started by someone who bought one. Tons of pictures and info.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ked-up-2016-silver-double-cab-offroad.391047/

About 3/4 down the first page he states "I also noticed a strange air noise at freeway speeds in windy conditions. At times the wind would catch the door seal area just right and make what sounded like a Kazoo (kids instrument)"

    Come on Toyota....

This has been driving me nuts for over a year.
I can make the noise go away if I press hard on the front of the driverside mirror when driving. Not the best thing to do at highway speeds.
Because it sounds like the noise is coming from the front part of the driver window i wondered if the WeatherTech Side window shades would help. They are different than the ones that stick to the outside of the door. They actual are pushed into the slot between the door and the door window gasket. I was hoping that this extra piece of material would stop this noise.
Im ordering them tonight. Ill let you know.

    All the time!!!
One question for y'all? I'm curious mine is the "access cab", is that what the rest are or are there, double cabs, and even singles? Just curiosity, I think too much.

This happens to me when the service boys do not put the cabin filter back in correctly. There is an up and down to the filter, but you have to look carefully at it. Just for fun... change the re-circulate settings and such... you will notice a difference as to when it does it, and where it sounds like it is coming from..... Also check the seals on the filter box.

    I fixed my kazoo noise.
The problem is the door seal. The rubber door seal catches the wind in the front of both doors. The passenger side the worst.

I took some 1/4" wire loom. and cut 2 x 14" pieces. 1 for each side. I started by the mirror on each side and tucked it between the door frame and the outside seal. It puts the enough pressure on the seal and it stopped it from vibrating with a crosswind. Been in place for 3 weeks and drove through several storms and no more kazoo.

Good job! That's basically what I did to mine except with a different material. I haven't been in windy enough conditions to check it yet. Hopefully this will help a lot of us.

I had the kazoo noise with my 2011 and now I have it with my 2015!! It's ridiculous! I brought it back to the dealer a week after I bought the new truck and they tried to brush it off but I persisted. They then took it in and kept it over night saying they were going to pull be windscreen and re-seal it... They supposedly did but the noise is now WORSE! I'm pretty fed up, love this truck and that's my only real complaint about it, would love a fix.

I have the windshield kazoo problem with my 11 at highway speed when there are strong winds.. When I complained to the dealer they said they would need to see it for themselves. I was able to get a video that proved pushing the windshield made the sound go away. Same response. They had to duplicate it fir themselves. Of course I was never able to get to the dealer on a high wind day during the warranty period which is just what they were hoping would happen. Bastards.

I noticed the same noise this past weekend on my 2015 Tacoma 4door with 4000 miles on it.

What is 1/4" wire loom. and how did you install it?

    Maritimer NB,
How did u run the wire loom? Did u take the seal off the door to run the loom thru it? Is it removable?

Pretty crazy to be reading this here now on these models. My 07 had the freeway kazoo and I had the window seals replaced 3 times, with 3 different styles of gasket until they got it right. Pretty sure there was a tsb for it also. Some things never change. The issue was always right behind the mirror, and my final solution was going to be rtv under this gasket area. I suggest applying a small bit of tape over this spot, and if it helps, try the sealant.

I read through some of this thread and was just about to post that the WeatherTech shades fixed my whistle!

Hope they work as well for you! Take your time putting them in, they're a little tedious. It'll take a few days of the shade sitting in the window with the window closed for the seal to take the shape and the windows to roll up easier, but it will eventually happen. I think the instructions say it will take a couple hours....

Same crap with my 2015 double cab prerunner.
I also made the serious mistake of buying a 2.7 4 cyl.
Pretty anemic, toyota makes us pay dearly for these
then we have to fight with them to fix this annoying (to say the least)
problem? Here's my fix below, and what I should have done in the first place
    It will solve BOTH problems:

I simply put the loom on the outside of the seal between the door frame and the seal. PM me your email and I can shoot you a picture.

It is completely reversible and literally is a 30 second job. It puts additional pressure on the seal and stops the vibration. I tried running the loom all the way back and it actually quiets the wind noise overall. Best think I like is that it does not absorb or hold moisture and can be removed in 5 seconds for cleaning if required.

Just had the Kazoo noise last week for the first time. 2015 AC, appeared to be from the passenger window/door area. Very loud and annoying. nd4sp, do you have any photos of your fix?

    thanks...... red
