Anyone know the function of it? TRD-OR with the auto sensing dimming. Located on drivers side, windshield facing side of the rear view mirror. Wondering if i can semi-cover it up with a dash cam install.

I can't seem to find any information about this lens/sensor in the manual or in the forums here.

It’s the ambient light sensor for the auto-dimming mirror.

It is the light sensor, hold your finger over it and the mirror will change.

Sure. But the auto dimming feature of the mirror won't work correctly.

I've never noticed if my mirror even dims or not.
Gonna give it the finger test.
