Got nailed by a hit and run the other night... bedside needs to be replaced...just wondering if anyone else in white had to have repaint done and were you satisfied with the match...I know white can be tough to match...any Input appreciated...I am a total anal with my truck and sick to my stomach on how it will match...Taking it to the best shop in the area so I got my fingers crossed... guess I need a calming voice of reassurance...Sucks that it will have a Carfax report against it now...wrong on so many levels

White should be pretty easy to match, it's the metallic's that are harder.

Especially since ours is single stage, you don't have to worry about clear changing the tint of the color.

Toyota super white is usually not too hard to match, even on an older vehicle. You should have no issues getting it fixed. Sucks that happened though.

I'd love to catch someone who hit a vehicle and tried to take off.

I was told it 2 stage...just not clear coated under hood and jambs but on all exterior panels...I have read conflicting views on this.

Yes it is base coat, clear coat. Most manufacturers don't clear coat in the engine bay.

Toyota matched ours on the runner pretty good for 8 years old.

Toyota super white is SINGLE STAGE! That is fact, not opinion. Go check with Toyota. I did. Now for a wrinkle, there is a "binder" which is very similar to clear coat that is mixed in with the super white. It is shot as a single stage, wet sanded and then buffed to match the orange peel. When you go buy the paint at an auto body supply it comes ready to thin and shoot.

The good news is it is an easy color to match.

That is correct. I just checked. Been a while since I've buffed a white Toyota vehicle so I was assuming they had finally transitioned from the titanium oxide paint on the whites. Guess not. This would be a perfect candidate for a good ceramic coating after the repair (also makes me reconsider my idea for getting the wife a new white 4runner.)

Wow I have to replace my right rear panel because a mail box got in my way. Doing it my self having fender painted (white) and hanging it my self cost 750 for fender and 250 to paint. My estimate on the truck was 2200 and tat included fixing a scratch on the right access cab door. I had left front fender replaced 3 months ago and it matched perfect. Again I had it painted and I hung it.

The real is that it is a base/clearcoat system except on the urethane plastics. the front bumper area is single stage.

I have to disagree with you on that. As a body and paint pro this is a 2 stage system that's on the truck. Why? because I've had to touch one up already and the system it calls for as per manufacturer was 2 stage. Under the hood and front bumper is single stage.
