This trail only has a couple of spots that would make it a challenge for a full size pickup. Almost anything with a bit of ground clearance can easily do it.

I took this from half way up Murphy's Hogback, looking back (north) the way we had come.

Here is the overlook at the top, at the camp ground area.

Of course, the pics have difficulty capturing the full perspective of the place. It is a long way down there to the valley floor.

Thanks Man. Except for a couple of groups of mtn bikers, we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Only ranger I saw was manning the entrance booth near schafer switchbacks. That was as we were leaving.

Mike and i passed a bunch of bikers doing TOTW..they were doing it..but holy shit did i feel sorry for them. All that padding and no AC..would be super hard to keep it going just up and up and up..i was impressed.

I ride in the desert quite often. Do I sweat my dick off? Ya, but I hardly notice it once I get going. It's not too much "padding" for the torso, just a thin jersey and a chest protector. I would certainly have to take more showers though. I would get as nasty from one day as I did all week riding in the comforts of the truck. It would be awesome to see the terrain from another perspective. You weren't on hells, but a guy on a bike did hells gate and made it almost to the top when the bike flipped out and landed sideways...i would have tried that without hesitation haha.
