White Smoke on Start Up from Exhaust?

    Make sure your coolant system is totally full. Mark either the cold or hot level, or both. Keep a eye on the level for a while, if it is coolant you will loose some over time. The pressure test is not fool proof by any means.

    Describe the color of the smoke you see during start up !!!!

    Is it blue ????? , This is referred to as oil smoke and during start up this is caused by leaking valve guides or valve seals . Oil drips from either of these and puddles onto of the piston . It is quickly burned off during start up with visible oil smoke out the exhaust



    If the smoke resembles a steam cloud that doesn't dissipate and has sweet smell /aroma and you also notice water loss in your radiator or running warm you have an internal water leak

    This can be from either a failed head gasket , cracked block or cracked cyl head

    My engine did the same thing, it will get worse. If I remember I ran my motor for a good month this way and gave me time to find an engine just because my motor was high mileage,
    If you’re losing ANY antifreeze and have white smoke you have a head gasket issue.

    Just a thought, is it an automatic or manual transmission? I have seen where in a auto trans the vacuum modulator diaphragm leaks and the vacuum line sucks the trans fluid into the engine.

    what did they presure test ????????

    cooling system can be pressure tested

    not familiar with pressure testing a block or head
