Good morning everyone I'm having a bad one I tried starting my truck this morning and it was having trouble starting so I pushed the gas to help it a little and it started but really rough shaking and thick white smoke came out the tailpipe and i turned it off . Well I tried again and it started up fine this time but now there constant white smoke coming out the tailpipe what do you guys think it is the head gasket? And also I have my other truck but when I start it up it accelerates to 2000rpm and stays like that for a couple minutes then goes to 1200 and stays there and it also shakes a little when it's on idle. ( 2003 Tacoma V6 automatic and 2004 Tacoma V6 automatic )

Should I drive my other truck since it has the idle and acceleration problems? I don't want both my trucks down

Check the coolant level, that will be the first indicator of a head gasket issue

Check your oil also, if it's milky that's another indicator.

I did notice my Coolant level was low a couple days ago and I added some so I think I might have a leak and I just checked the oil it's normal. should I driving my other truck instead it accelerates on startup to 2000rpm but it goes down after a couple minutes

If it were me, I'd drive the other one until you figure this one out. No sense in causing more damage if it is a head gasket.

Sometimes the head gasket will blow at an exhaust port. When this happens the water will leak into the exhaust system and not the oil. White smoke is antifreeze and water burning and blowing out.

You can smell antifreeze in the exhaust smoke and likely see it looking really wet at the exhaust tip. I had a leak in the head in an old V8 on an exhaust valve, it just steamed out the exhaust and that cylinder had a miss from the antifreeze in the fuel in the cylinder. No antifreeze in the oil.

A new head and gasket and all was good without any other damage. The car took a while to clear the antifreeze out of the exhaust after the fix.
