    well the color of your socks depends on the color of your shoes...

    also one rule of thumb (when dressing up or professionally) belt should always match shoes color and watch color (silver = black, gold = brown)

    Never where brown shoes with black pants

    Brown belt = Brown shoes = brown, beige, or tan socks
    Black belt = Black shoes = black, blue, or grey socks

    White socks should only be worn with athletic shoes or slippers.
