    The ''Safest'' Car Color?
Some drivers are convinced that lighter or brighter-colored cars will keep them more visible and thus make them safer on the road.

Research on car colors and crash rates is sparse, however. In an Australian study, white vehicles were about 10 percent less likely to be in a crash during daylight hours than vehicles in lower-visibility colors such as black, blue, gray, green, red and silver, according to a 2007 report from the Monash University Accident Research Centre.

I have a 2012 super white and living in a state where they salt all winter and now brine, the rust is starting to hit the paint.. lot of little rust pits all over and up on the pillar in my rear window there is a rust spot that actually flaked a small chip of paint off... and I can start to see it on the door sills... if you don’t have to worry about salt and salt brines I wouldn’t worry about the color.

you need to get a Toyota 040 touch up paint pen to help get rid of the rust piting they cost about $10 from dealer or online and work great.

if you use the white looking tip on the pen you can scrub out the rust pretty good and then apply the paint, I clay bared and cleaned the rust out of the chip before painting. I found a few more pitting areas on my front bumper yesterday I need to address, seems like any road debris scratch will pit out to rust only way I know to fight it is the 040 pen. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/official-ask-a-detailer-thread.8957/page-119#post-12731169

I wonder if you were to hit the cleaned rusted spots with vinegar and baking soda to possibly help stop the rusting process any further. Then dry and add paint.

Like one of the other guys said white is definitely one of the safest colors. I feel like with white cars people are less likely to move over into my lane because they see me better in the morning, evening and dark. Also I've owned pretty much every color car out there. And on one of my old Mercedes I decided to go with a different color that was not white which I later regretted. So since I bought this truck brand new, I knew right from the start I wanted white. Easier to keep clean, easier to match aftermarket part colors to it, and I've also noticed that the paint quality on white last longer over the years than the darker colors.

The only other things I do like about the darker colors though is that it looks less like a commercial vehicle and also the lines show better for pictures.

+1 for white trucks. I'm on construction sites multiple times per week. When I had a car the workers would always hassle me with condescending "can we help you?" questions. Now, they look at the white truck and zero fucks are given. I'd go with white again unless they had a primary red color, my favorite and the color of the University I root for. IMHO, car makers are afraid of color. Just look at the 2018 tacoma, out of the 9 color options 5 of them are shades of grey from white to black. They do have two reds and a blue which is good. And, I'm not sure what color quicksand or why they put it in the lineup?

Silver is pretty good for hiding dirt, probably about the same as QS.

if I didn't have white I would have gotten Quicksand. the Crosstrek I traded in was Desert Khaki, and I loved the color. I absolutely love the Cement but around here they are hard to get. my dealer found one when I was buying mine, but they were not gonna give me the same deal on it as my white one. they claimed they had to pay more to get that one from another dealer so they couldn't discount it as much. all in all it was about $2000 higher than what I paid for my Super White. in 2 years when I trade again, it won't be for white...

Exactly right. No top coat clear coat. Single stage. BUT, there is a binder mixed into the white that is basically the same formula as clear coat so shoot it once and you get white and clear together. There is no top coat clear coat on ANY Toyota that is super white. All the other pearl whites have clear coat tho.

Haha you need to use my "10-10" rule...
If you can't see it from ten feet away or at ten mph then it does not exist!

I married my tacoma likes this.
