Wow, didn't expect that many responses so quickly! Looks like I will have to strongly consider white!

When I bought mine couple months ago there were 2 a white one and a red one I liked the red better because there is very few of them were I live. Don't look bad dirty either.

like most other folks have iterated, white is muy facil to keep clean. i had a white '96 Tacoma then a white 2000 Mazda 626 and both were so much easier to keep lookin' sharp compared to my 2012 MGM Tacoma which, by the way, I hit with the clay bar and a coat of wax earlier today. It looks SEX!

There's a thread on here about single stage clear coat vs. clear on top of paint that supports what we're saying here. I love my MGM but my next truck will likely be a single stage.

Was your '96 a victim of the frame rot issue? My '97,which was spotless, inside and out was.Sure, after 10 years of road salt in the winter the underside had rust, but damn.I started tapping on the frame with a hammer and it crumbled in spots making holes the size of my fist.

Yes they are hard to keep clean. They look clean from a distance, get up close an you can see road film.

Mine seems to keep clean just fine, i was worried about the white color too, my red chevy before Toyota was a pain to keep clean.

I love white vehicles. 3 out of my 5 have been white. One of the reasons for me getting white, is because the paint seems to hide the dirt and last longer. Look at the paint of any older vehicle and you will see that the lighter color vehicles are in better shape. The reds and maroons fade faster in my opinion. Although I am noticing the paint on my 2008 Tacoma is not as thick as the older cars.

I like the looks of white Tacomas also, especially with the dark contrasting fenders and bumpers.

I reluctantly chose silver instead, only because I didn't want anyone to think I was driving a work-owned truck.

White trucks where I reside tend to sell slowly, with the stigma of work trucks.

But Pool Runner has mentioned that white keeps its value, because that is the color businesses want.

    A little a this, a little a that...
White is definitely the easiest to keep clean and hide waterspots or scratches. Also stays cooler in the summer. The darker paints look better when clean IMO but are harder to keep that way. You wash a black truck and it's clean for about 15 min.

In my experience, silver is the next best for staying clean looking. I've also had yellow and metallic red, which were actually pretty good too, but if I'm buying new, it has to be white.

My mom has a white 4-Runner and every time I look at it I say to myself, "That is one sharp vehicle".

I suppose my qualm with the white would be that road tar would be much more pronounced on it and if it ever rusts (which I would do my best to prevent, but in NE Ohio, that is next to impossible) it would certainly stick out more than a dark colored vehicle.

Aside from that, it seems the general consensus is that it is much easier to keep clean, so I will have to take a strong look at one when I head to the dealer.

My white Tacoma has been great. It hides pollen in the spring, and it hides lots of scratches, and it's easy to buff scratches out, it hides that powdery crap that compound sometimes leaves behind.

White is right :) Plus in the hotter climate they stay far cooler, I Zaino mine once in the spring and once in the fall wipe occasionally with Quick Detail spray. She's been washed twice in the last 3 months. A spray from a water hose will just blow the mud right off with ease.

Mine is extremely dirty right now and doesn't show it as bad as other colors would. I've always owned white trucks (Chevy s10 before this) and love the color.

White vehicles are always the hardest to keep clean, but it's by no means unmanageable. You just have to stay on top of it. A dollar at the coin-op right after a trip (before the bug splats have had time to really stick) will go a long way.

Also worth noting that they look pretty damn good when clean, and you'll have an excuse to clean a white truck more often than any other color.
