I mean back in the day, trading a Tacoma every 2 years was not crazy if you know how to wheel and deal. Would usually get high trade in value on my trade, then buy the new one close to 15% off MSRP, repeat, would only lose maybe $2k or so and have a freshie. Times have changed for sure. Got lucky with the 2020 to 2022, paid MSRP on 2022 but crazy high trade in on my 2020. This time around my 2022 is paid off so I am using it all as equity so makes the 2024 more palatable.

Don’t really care about the money thing. It is the trading in every two years thing seems like a massive fucking hassle, doing the horseshit dealer dance I can’t stand, I even pay cash, which they hate because they don’t get a kick back if you don’t finance. Why I don’t buy vehicles often. Rather just fix them.

Usually Toyotas don’t start nickel and diming you until 200-250K mark. Have 10ish more years before I have to start messing with it on the ‘21.

So what is he need to trade in every two years, is it a mental thing? Like the rush of buying something new and often? My buddy’s dad used to buy tools out the wazoo, wouldn’t even use them, literally had a garage full of brand new tools. Come to find out he was clinically depressed.

Not sure, certainly not depressed. I guess just trucks and dirt bikes/motorcycles are my hobby. With my first on the way I'm sure things will change. I mean as a kid I collected hot wheels and stuff and used to make my dad take me to the dealer just to look and collect the brochures.

@TacoBuffet I am happy for you getting that sweet ass '24. But you sure as hell aren't helping my practical side win the argument with my YOLO side on whether to be content with hanging on to my '21 for a few more years. :D

Think it is from growing up in construction/retail/distributor business. Felt like endless amount of bullshit to tend to…fricken hate it. Everything has been sold off and a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Now I want simple as possible, don’t really like a lot of stuff, horrible horrible consumer. Older I get the less I want.

Sorry friend, I too was trying to hold out and find a reason to hate the new truck, but after all the video reviews and pics, I said F-it, gonna snag one and pay too much for it, lol.

I’m pretty sure the Underground color hooked you. It’s badass. Looks great on the 4Runner.

For sure, as soon as I saw it, right up my alley, had MGM then cement, its the perfect blend of the two.

I’m surprised Underground is a non Pro color.

No apology necessary my friend. I was just ribbing you a bit. My vehicle affliction started long before I bought my Tacoma and found this forum.

I've been looking at 2024 4Runners now and I blame it all on you @TacoBuffet lol. :D Kidding about blaming you but not about shopping T4Rs.

I have been considering trading for the last of the 5th gen 4Runners for a while now. I could make do without the bed although it is really convenient at times. I have a hitch carrier and a trailer.

With the T4R the added comfort would be appreciated every time I drive. I like the old school low tech design and don't drive enough for the gas mileage to matter. It's probably the last of the Japanese built T4Rs and I think they will hold their value really well with old farts like me lol.

I’m starting to struggle now actually cause I do love my 2022 that’s paid for and last of the Lunar Rock and 3rd gen’s. I guess I have a few weeks to let it marinate.
