Who’s had to do major repairs?

    here's an exception for you:

    5th gear moved in my Tacoma 5 speed manual transmission and blocked access to reverse at ~100k miles. I posted pictures here last summer when it happened. Manufacturing defect and also a poor design. This didn't happen with my Mitsubishi 5 speed MT in over 313k miles with 50% more HP.

    I've had two Mitsubishi cars ('92 Talon TSI AWD and '06 Evo) and my Tacoma has had more trouble with 25% the miles than the Mitsus combined. I still have the Evo. Of my three new vehicles and my ex's three new Civics, my Tacoma has had more problems in 100k than all the other five combined. Most are minor, but a perpetually squeaking clutch pedal and a rusty frame (in TN) are inexcusable defects today.
