A little bit of sarcasm but it in the forum land there seems to be so much disdain for the 3rd gen Tacoma.

How many of you guys actually like your trucks and plan on keeping them for the long haul?

we own both a 3rd gen tacoma and 5th gen 4runner and they are both ridiculously slow. Yet on the internet it seems like the 4.0 is a LS7 or something.

Also, really curious to see the opinion on 3rd gens when the 4th gen drops.

Edit: Created a poll to have some data, apologies for the wordiness, want to make sure there is some substance behind each ranking.

you will find a lot of people who don't actually own a 3rd gen, don't like 3rd gens.

    Oh look, another mod....
Like my Tacoma? I love my Tacoma.

On February 21st, 2021 I entered into a LTR (Long Tacoma Relationship) with it. We got officially hitched. Her names Martha in case you were wondering. We'll stay married for the next 15 - 20yrs, or until I cheat on her with a newer, more MPG friendly sports car.

    Enough for now
Plan on driving mine til the wheels fall off. Also not sure a dealer would ever buy it with all that’s been done at this point haha

If I didn't like it I wouldn't have bought it. I think there are way too many people buying them trying to be trendy or cool instead of because they like what it is

I love mine. If I could only have one vehicle, it would be my Tacoma. I have faster cars, cars that sound better, cars with better stereos, better mileage, 4 wheel better, and drive better. None of them can do every thing my Tacoma can do.

Loved mine when I had it and it was even the first model year. You know the ones plagued with problems so they say.

Is it perfect? No, but no vehicle is.

That said I’m more than happy with mine. It’s the perfect size for me.

I make it a habit to spend big bucks on shit I don't like. That way I can join internet forums and bitch about how bad they suck.

I have a 2nd gen and like it. I don't really like the plastic bed, but I didn't like that when I first saw it. It's never been an issue. I find the engine and transmission combo lack luster, it's an auto.

I don't think that has anything to do with the 3rd gen. I do find that I often talk myself out of wanting to buy a 3rd gen.

    I don't have a 3rd gen, but I would say I like them.

I would say you can't really know if you "like it" unless you own one. I didn't know if I liked it for at least 10k miles.

I love mine, I plan to keep it once it's paid off, and it very well might be the last gasoline vehicle I ever buy. We will see

Seems like a lot of the third gen haters are second gen owners.

    "Derp-de-derp turd gen!!"

For the record I absolutely adore my truck.

I like my 3rd gen. It's not a perfect vehicle by any means, but it's minor flaws add to its character. I will keep it for a while, but if and when I do replace it, it won't be with another pickup.
