Ya 6th is pretty high on this truck, to make matters worse they put the 5/6 shift point right at 65 mph which is a common highway speed.

Don't feel bad. I have a MT xterra that I love, but there's been a few times I was forced to drive around the city and it was torture. Doesn't help that it has mechanical lockers

I’m strange, I do prefer MT in traffic. Yes, I know.

It’s funny, cuz when I test drove the truck I did notice right away how low the gearing was. But they do it to add torque to the 3.5.

First was very short compared to the ranger I had. Miss that truck sooo bad, wish I could’ve kept it…

Far FAR from a Toyo fan boy, only having owned one for 7 months so far and Jeeps for 26 years or so, including a 3.5 Pentastar JK, I can definitely attest to Toyotas longevity, quality and reliability VS Mopar/Jeep products.

Also, some of the posts in this thread are making my head hurt.

I think this is one of those things that depends on your definition of driving in traffic. 2 hours of bumper to bumper stop and go never getting passed 15 mph gets old fast. I did it for years and thought nothing of it, then switched to an automatic and dont think I would do it again for a driver in traffic. Manual is more fun, but not bumper to bumper for me

Had a 2019 TRD OR, now have a 2014 TRD OR. Sold the 3G to eliminate some debt, although I’ve found I enjoy my 2nd Gen more due to it being a bit more “spartan” than my old 3G.

After owning both a 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen, I think the 3G auto gets some deserved flak for the shitty transmission tune but honestly it’s not that bad. Just feels like it has turbo lag sometimes. Get it tuned by Toyota or a tuner and you’re golden. Or let your nuts finally drop and buy an MT

I also didn’t care for the gigantic schnozz of a hood they put on the 3G - made it a PITA to see over when on a backwoods trail.

That said, I think the 3rd Gen truck is the best bang for the buck midsize on the market. It’ll be interesting to see what they do with the 4th Gen.

    -timing cover leak
-dealer blew my truck up checking my tire pressure
    -ac drain mod
